Name: Ienden Bohun

Description:
Ienden is a young man in his late twenties. His appearance is not that special, with an average body build and short dark brown hair. His face seems to have this permanent serious look on it, even though it sometimes softens in a smile. His clothes are simple but durable, mostly chosen because of their practical use for the situation.

Biography:
He grew up in some little village, where a kind druidical man took notice of him. There he was taught the different plants and herbs, and later ways to use them to heal the sick and injured. The druid also mentioned magic after a while, but Ienden did not give it much thought and that soon got dropped. Not long after that the druid left, maybe slightly disappointed.
When Ienden was old enough, he left and traveled a bit around the area until he finally settled down near Polca. There he now tends to those in need. The local people provide him with the things he needs, like food or some help repairing the roof. And travellers, like the merchant caravans, pay him in coin. He is quite content staying there, but lately he cannot help but feel this sense of foreboding.

Starting Resources:
Skill: Herbalist/Apothecary (growing and preparing herbs, mostly for medicine)
Skill: Physician (other healing skills)
Skill: Magic Talent
As time passes, Ienden absorbs energy from his surroundings (or he might be able to draw it in strongly, but that would require a conscious action. Would of course work a lot better on a ley line or something like that). This can then be used to cause magic things to happen, most likely when he is emotionally triggered (like strong fear, anger, etc). The last years he has had a quiet life and nothing strange has happened. During his travels he has had several 'lucky' things happen to him when he got in trouble.

Well, all of our characters have been around for a whiel (lore-wise) since they are all in their 20s and 30s. What I meant that mages being drawn to this praticular region is interesting.
Having 4 of us in a setting where 1 in a radius of several hundred miles is rare means something will happen. And I hope that GMs will use this to construct ain interesting plot, usinfg that plague thing for example.

Mine is a few centuries old  :P. That is a while, yes.

So I don't know, or cannot find anything on what the upgrades are, so I pulled that out of general knowledge.

Should I come up with a personal description for those under my command or leave them as blank and generic?

Also put some acronyms in the starting resources, to justify why I chose them.

1) http://youareking.wikia.com/wiki/Rules#Units
2) Not really, you can name them and such on the fly if you care to, outside of that it doesnt really matter
3) Please dont use acronyms or midget text - it makes baby jesus cry

Starting Resources:
Skill: Herbalist/Apothecary (growing and preparing herbs, mostly for medicine)
Skill: Physician (other healing skills)
Skill: Magic Talent

Again, Herbalism and Physician aren't exactly documented traits, so you'll likely want to explain to what effect you'd like them to be useful for

Some minor, nitpicky questions.

Heavy Warship I says it is a carrack. That's understandable, despite carracks being mostly merchant ships x3

Heavy Warship II is a man of war... which needs gunpowerd and cannons to work. Galleons might fit this role.

Heavy Warship III is the line ship class. Line ships cannot exist without cannons :P The reason they weredesigned and called that was because they lined up and shot cannons until one side sank/gave up, and even if they retreated to shoot at the stern.

Naval warfare w/o cannons is basically just a boarding fight. O_o

No, ballistae and catapults can't damage ships well :P

Even with catapults or ballistae, it still is a boarding game >_<

Also, uh... can somebody fill me in on any mysterious explosions?

The latest mysterious explosion in Polca was due to Ardas' Mage mucking around with magic in a tavern.

Might I direct you to the wiki: http://youareking.wikia.com/wiki/You_Are_King_Wiki
Rules are found within (such as rules related to combat), and it's a rather good resource on the setting.

My turn! *Indiscriminately tap into the leyline, attempting to draw out as much power as possible.
*Gets a 6 on the Power roll.

... What would ensue?

I'm not the GM, but I once played one on TV.

A 6 is an overshoot, but I don't know if you can overshoot something with no definitive ending to it. Results would be up to the GM, but if I were ruling it (and I'm not and probably never will be) you'd probably be overloaded by the power and killed, torn to shreds similar to that one scene in Indiana Jones where the nazis open the Ark. Then the leyline might stop working in that area, and anyone who draws power from a similar power source would be unable too.
But it's all up to whichever GM doing the rolls decides, and I'm not them.

@CG and Tere: Would it be prudent, do you think, to move dead and indefinitely-MIA characters to the "legacy" section? Or to create a new section for "Departed"? On the front page, I mean. I can do it, if you want.

I can't see the map right now, so I need to ask: is Moun landlocked or connected to the coast or at least a river?

Did it get taken down again or is it just your computer?

Moun has a river cutting it in half and a coast.

That is the point, I was wondering wheter that would simply disintegrate me or take out everything in a large radius around the attempt. It goes without saying that the caster wouldn't survive, 'indiscriminately tapping on source of highly volatile magic power' is simply asking to die.

I'd probably only have it kill you, were I ruling on it, unless you were attempting to channel it into an explosive spell and you somehow managed to survive long enough for that. But I'm not the GM, I don't know. We can really only speculate, until someone tries it.

I feel the need to point out, since fucking EVERYBODY is a mage now for some reason, that magic is inherently difficult and dangerous. Anyone who has the talent for magic, but not the requisite +1 skills is going to be in a lot of trouble. And I can say that with confidence without being a GM, because I mean just look at the magic rules and the many, many ways things can go wrong for you.

E: Also, File: Terryn is purposefully waiting till after he's murdered the Guard Captain to meet with William, but you can always force the meeting if you want. It should be known to both parties that they're all in the city now.
