Receive the messenger within the tent. Have a few men posted outside.
[5] The messenger arrives in your tent, looking nervous. Outside, alot of your troops are still in the woods, out of view, but they're making alot of noise - you think he may be thinking you have more men than you truly do.
"Welcome to the domain of Mileth, mylord. The lord of the city has sent me to learn about your intentions and your identity."Question the innkeeper
[6-4]
"The house with the red door... Why, of course I know where it is. However, I'm not sure the owner of the place would appreciate if I did tell you the location... I don't like taking risks without a good reason, if you catch my drift. As for Ligoria? They say the Lord Chancellor Kathos has made a deal with the deposed Queen, and has allowed her to return to her throne. Of course, she besieged the city, but it's interesting to know that he surrendered. They say the man killed his ancient partner before giving her the city. Whatever happened, her reign won't be stable for a little while."Mark heads into the city and finds a tavern. Once there, he tries to gauge the status of the city and it's government (that is, the populace's opinions on it's rulers, the economic situation, etc.).
[2] You find the tavern nearly empty, and the few who are there don't talk much. [5-1] While they are not willing to speak of politics, you do learn that the city is relatively wealthy. Ligoria has a high population and larger territories than most city states, and one of the strongest armies of the Storm Coast. However, its navy, consisting of three transport ships, is somewhat lacking, and little trading happens in the port when compared to merchant cities like Vasir, Groaning, Lechem or Dalannor.
Say this^ and try to intimidate the man.
[Please try and keep a certain quality to the posts. Speech is colored, actions that are not rolls (IE: He looked at the soldier) are neither in bold nor colored, and actions requiring rolls are in bold. This is to avoid confusion.]
[6] It works. The man looks somewhat scared, and he says something in his language. The guards bare their fists and move towards you. Looks like you're in for a beating.
[5] Well, you would be if these men weren't all idiots. You easily run from them, going into an alley and then taking sharp turns. Within a minute or so, you've escaped.
