"I believe one of the terms for that happen was that you were to help me take Ligoria back. As far as I know, you didn't help and thus that agreement is void. Besides, you'd probably prefer to marry Chironas instead, so I may as well make that easier for you."

[filiusenox]

That gets William's attention, and for the first time during the meeting he sits up to look at Laythe.

"That almost sounded like a threat...it wasn't, was it?"

"And technically I did help you."

[Taricus]

"William, it wasn't a threat. More of a general observation."

[Shootandrun]

"Well, as it happens, Laythe, I recently informed William that I wished to become his direct vassal, which means my property is not yours to take, and only he can decide if I can involve myself in politics -which is quite a vague term, by the way. Besides, as far as I know, you agreed that I could keep my business."

[filiusenox]

William clicks his tongue again, looking bored,

"Going to have to Knight or Lord you then. By the Dark..."

[Taricus]

"Except for the part where it's in my demense, but I did agree to let you keep the business proper, so I'll just be content with the profits from it for a few years for reconstruction work and related tasks. Same goes for any land you may've given out during your reign. Anyone I don't recogize that has Ligorian lands, I'll be retaking them into crown custody as well.

And if William is your liege lord, than it's Polca's politics you shall be involved in, not Ligoria's."

[Skyrunner]

Eurika looked up at the ceiling for a bit, then said,

"I see that you've more or less achieved your goal and been reinstalled as the ruler of Ligoria. Now, to not dance around the subject: The pay promised, I think I need that with all due haste. Despite me pretty much doing nothing. Thing is, I know what my little project costs, somewhere south of One Hell Of A Lot Of Money. To pay for this, I was considering starting up a business that should be self-sustaining, and eventually achieve the point where it will provide engineers and perhaps even a little extra. I want to start this as soon as possible."

[Shootandrun]

"You agreed that the profits remained mine, Laythe. You cannot go back on your word now."

[Taricus]

"Oh, right. Sorry about that. Still, I'll be going through the all the shit you lot put in, see if any of it is worth keeping or not. So, you're dismissed for now, if you have nothing else to add to this conversation."

Eurika's Audience.
"Sure. How much was the agreed amount again? I'm afraid it slipped my mind..."

[Skyrunner]

"Four ducats, I believe."

Four ducats should make a sizable business which would pay for itself in a year, and have money left in three.

"As an aside, do you have any preference in where the business would be? I understand that too many of the same kind in a single area disturbs the local economy...?"

The appended question mark was delicate, and slowly sublimated.

[Shootandrun]

"I do. Do you mind if I borrow the fleet to take the city I intend to take? Since it's an island, taking it without them is impossible, which would force me to aim for a smaller, more insignificant city."

[Taricus]

"Under no circumstances are you to commit a military invasion with Ligorian forces. I want full deniability of your actions, thus I will bar you from using the fleet for this. You'll have to find someone willing to take your troops across to your target."

Eurika's Audience.
"Very well, I'll have the money transferred to you. And it would be better in a more active economy, such as Vasir, Galam or here in Ligoria. That way raw materials for whatever your plan is should be cheaper."

[filiusenox]

William raises his hand.

"I can, possibly next year. But since your a member of my retinue, I'll have to ask a favor of you first, Kathos."

[Shootandrun]

"I'll need a lot of ships, William. At least five. And they may not even be used. This is a though investment. Are you sure you want to do this? If so, do tell me what your favor is.

I would also like to remind you, Laythe, that I had them built. If you have to deny that I'm involved, you can say I just fled with some loyalists on my ships and tried to take a city for myself."

[filiusenox]

"Help me deal with the Black Company and expand Polca's borders enough to stop the damn people from bitching so much. You'd expect tax-breaks, the ability to speak freely and all those other pesky things would stop them from bitching so damn much about a few bandits."
