"We've waited for long enough, if I hold no land by Winter all of the men will go unpaid, we march upon Mileth by dawn!"

Move towards Mileth with the whole army, setting camp only far enough from the gates that arrows pose no threat. Send a courier into the city demanding that the local lord meet me in a tent between the city and the camp, using the army in the distance as leverage. Order the officers to seize the chance to survey the enemy's forces, as it is highly unlikely that the lord would sally out without exposing his army, if any.

Laneira checked her regiment before coming up to the merchant, making sure that everything was in place.

"Well, as we're in Veruna now, and safe from any particular harm, I'd like to ask about the training you promised earlier, using my pay for it.

And that on business. How did you start up your own, I wonder. Isn't it hard to get connections at a time like this?"
She remembered the sight of hungry serfs and worn faces as they traveled from the Iron Mines. While she was a mercenary, the sight did no good for her hopes.

Ask that Merchant while we take a stroll in Veruna.

"This should be fun."

William assists Kathos on whatever the hell the strategy is.

Dracius looked at the Lord, dressed in full battle armour, as per custom, and fully armed, also as per custom, sitting down Dracius said, "That would depend on how dangerous it is, but chances are it should be easily affordable for whatever you want me to do."
"It so happens that an unidentified army has been seen coming towards the city. We believe the garrison will be more than enough to stop them, but... You can't be too careful. We believe they will arrive soon. This might not end in a battle, but if it does, will you accept to be part of the defense?"
"We've waited for long enough, if I hold no land by Winter all of the men will go unpaid, we march upon Mileth by dawn!"

[I'm putting this on hold, since I don't know what are the forces of Mileth. I've sent a PM to CG.]

[6, 5] "Ah... My employees happen to have found trainer who looks just perfect for you. He lives in the western part of the city, in a large building with a red door. I'm told you can't miss it. As for how I started my business... Simple, really. My father left me some money, and I traded for some time at a low scale. When I was rich enough, I built an industrial business and I started producing the things I sold for greater profit. After that, it is a simple matter of patience and connections... And connections are not hard to make in times like these. The world is changing. The balance of powers is always on the edge of falling apart. There will always be great men looking for help in hard times. Your job is to simply make sure they pay back once you've helped them."

Try to return on your steps, and try again.
If he fails to return on his steps, ask people the way.

[6] You  easily return to where you started. Amazed by your outstanding sense of directions and memory, you forget to look where you're walking and you run into a man. Since he may be one of the fattest men you've ever seen, you are not hurt, but he is taken off his balance by the hit and he falls over. Eight men who were following him immediately go into action, with two helping him up and the other six surrounding you. The fat man looks quite rich, and [3] quite annoyed by the accident. He speaks, with an accent that you recognize from Vasir.

"Young man! What were you thinking, running into me like that? What do you think you were doing?"

"Marcus Valerius."

Mark nods politely to the red shirt assigned to follow him around before setting off through the camp, looking for casually gathered soldiers who he can find out about Laythe from. On the way, he asks the guy following him. He does not, however, try to escape.

[1] You sit down with a few soldiers and start talking with them, making jokes about the coming battle. After some time you start to ask questions about the queen, but before they answer officers start shouting orders throughout the camp. A sergeant stops by the group of soldiers and orders them to form up and get ready to fight. He looks at you for a while after you hear him, and then he repeats the order. You do not understand why - all the soldiers have left. But when he shouts "You too, young man!" and drags you towards a regiment of soldiers, you understand.

There appears to have been an horrible mistake.

Head to the trainer and begin introductions, introduce self and try to agree with seasonal training. Get to know him.

Lan nodded and headed her way, thinking about the merchant's words. He was right, in the fact that connections - and friends - made mostly everything easier, as people did depend on each other to work. She made another note on the changing of the world, for she did not know much of this type of world. Her own was more simplistic, but she was beginning to realize how much she had missed due to it.

Solan, Shim and that 'Av' fellow. Three merchants that were of note to her. They might be of use later on, when she had more men under her command.

[Reminder: all actions should be bold and at the end of posts, please. I might miss them if you don't do it that way.]

Mark attempts to communicate that he isn't one of the soldiers to the sergeant.

[4]After a short discussion with the officer, he realizes his mistake - mainly because you are obviously too educated to be part of the rabble. He lets you go, telling you a false name in case you wanted to report him and deciding that he needs to be somewhere else, and quickly.

"Very well, I will fight with your men, but for 1 Ducat, my men need payment of course"

"Very well. We do not know the forces of the incoming army, but we will soon enough. Prepare your forces."

Head to the trainer and begin introductions, introduce self and try to agree with seasonal training. Get to know him.

[2] You fail to find an house with a red door. You think that the merchant may have exaggerated about the 'impossible to miss' part. There's an inn nearby; a good place to find information. You could also ask a guard, of course.

"I'm so sorry milord, i didn't see you,'cause i'm quite in a hurry.
Are you alright?"

Say this^ to the man, but prepare to fight if necessary but try to not let the gaurds notice.

[2]"I am not alright, obviously! My cape is ruined, a gift from my honorable uncle, extremely hard to find! He'll be in a fit of fury if he realizes I lost his gift! You'll have to pay for that, young man, and I can tell you it's expensive!"

Disaster averted. Mark watched the sergeant hustling off after his troops and considered what to do now. The camp was changing into a hive of activity, soldiers running about in preparation for the assault. He was unlikely to find soldiers relaxing now, and with their casual demeanor went Mark's chances of assessing the queen's character. Far off siege towers rumbled across the distance between the attackers and the walls at a glacial pace.

Mark crosses the site to a point where he can observe the battle without leaving the camp.

"But milord, it isn't ruined, maybe there is a little bit of dirt on it, but you can wipe that of and it is as good as new.
I'm sorry milord, but i'm not going to pay for something that small."
Goodbye milord.

Say this^ and try to walk away, past the soldiers.

William wore a genuine look of shock when Kathos was done speaking and there was a growl to his voice as he yelled the words out.

"I am no longer affiliated with Ligoria. I am an independent man from here on!"

He jumped off the horse he was on, and gestured for one of his men to come forward and to slip off his cloak. After a few seconds the man produced a bottle of Lonemine whiskey.

"Therefore anything I say or do from here on out should not reflect on the Republic or what the hell ever! Therefore, you all can go back to living under Laythe. Probably the best."

William pulled the cork out of the bottle and downed a gulp of stinging, distilled courage as he threw his helmet down and strode out the gate.

"Today is a good day for me to die." And with that he laughed calmly.

"LAYTHE, I WANT A WORD WITH YOU!"

Once Laythe had seen Kathos' rather... brave sally out, by himself, she would've laughed, of course, tehn the white flag was dropped...

The assault was ordered to stop once the flag hit the ground, and laythe rode towards Kathos, bodyguards in tow.

"So, bit unusual time to call a parley, but, it must be important if you personally sally out of the walls for it." Laythe's tone had radically changed from last time, with it being more neutral at this point.

She proceeded not to respond to William at this point, but ordered her bodyguard to keep an eye on him.

William stepped over by Kathos, but didn't bother to remove Zerim, instead hurling the bottle at the wall instead of at the nice target Laythe made, standing beside him a bit.

"I fucking hate this bitch some days." he growls out, but lapses into silence afterward.
