~Days later~

Begin production of gunpowder.

[5] You should have a barrel ready by summer given your rate of work and progress so far.

Head to Lord Cain's residence/castle. Inform guards that Seth is bearing news of Polca and that he has an interesting proposal.

Cain's home is a modest estate on the north end of town. The guards are willing to lead you into a waiting room inside the estate. It's a nice room with a cozy fire burning. Decorations range from small sculptures to paintings of artists you don't know. [51,3-1] You notice something odd about the sculptures, but you can't seem to place what and you doubt it's anything overly important, however.

The guard's return a short while later to lead you into Cain's study. A man of an imposing image sits behind a desk writing in a journal. He motions for you to sit and closes the journal.

"So, Seth was it? I hear you have some interesting news I might find, well, interesting? So I have simple questions then: What information and who are you to posess such information about the un-subtle Mr. Blackrose?"

"Well, for starters I am a first-hand witness of the events that occured there. Secondly, I had the pleasure of meeting the clumsy William personally. And I can with large degree of certainty say that the man is responsible for his own downfall. As for myself, I am a man that can help with more or less anything that you require, for the right payment of course."

He looked mischievously at the man.

"Lets say that I have special talent that allows me shape reality to a degree that few, if any mortals can. You might not be a big fan of gods, but strange things do happen if you wish for them...."

Lan and her Captain stroll through the streets of Ligoria, examining it's architecture and beauty. One week until the caravan finishes it's business and wares. A lot of time.

They then inquire from some of the townspeople about any place that deals with hiring extra 'help'. Infantry regiments and such.

Also, on the status of Polca and it's relation with the neighboring cities.

William's Office:
"Could Someone send for Sir Terryn of the Thornbred?"
"Yes sir."
"And a bottle or two of Whiskey."

William get's an appraisal on the damage in Polca, uses the Heavy Tatical Crimson Guards((From now on known as Blooded Blades)) to patrol the city. The second unit of Crimson Guards((The ones who don't have heavy or tactical and to be known as Red Guard)) are to maintain the watch on the gates.

Terryn's long sword swung gently from side to side from where it hung on his back, easier to reach now that his left arm hung uselessly from his side, as he sauntered into the room. His hair was roughly tousled, an orange-rust scruff had appeared on his cheeks, chin, and lip, and he was clearly drunk. The guard who had found him and escorted him to William's manor had found him drinking in one of the few dockside taverns that would still serve the him, and had nearly lost a limb to Oswald, who stood silent and ever imposing by the hedge knight's side, in the process.

"William," Terryn spoke with a maudlin grin, pulling a chair back from the desk and dropping down upon it, "what can I do for you?"

William's office:
"Good to see you."
William was sitting across the table from Terryn. He was paler and thinner then usual.
"So hows the arm feeling? And please, call me Will."

"Nobody has seen Blackadder recently? In that case, I'll send people looking for him. It doesn't matter for now, though. We can do this meeting without him."

Kathos looked healthier than the last time he had seen the generals, and certainly in a better mood. He had nearly smiled when they had entered.

"I'll make this quick, gentlemen. We cannot simply stop the border campaign until a new Lord Protector is chosen. If De Plume is left unchallenged for too long, she might start attacking our borders or raiding the parcels we recently acquired, with the help of Sir August here and Blackadder. However, I do not plan to repeat Nikephoros' mistakes. Since I am a mere politician and I have no experience in the arts of warfare, I will not lead forces at the border. I will leave that task to Alaria - Talvius will remain here to keep the city defended. However, I have some... Suggestions that might help you during the campaign to come."

He opened a map on the council table that showed the ligorian peninsula, and he pointed the borders.

"The parcels at the borders are heavily forested, and that greatly helps lady De Plume in her actions. However, these woods have little use - they do not make good bows and cannot be used to build good ships or buildings. We do not need these forests. I believe the simplest way to finish this campaign is to simply burn down the woods at the borders, using controlled fires. De Plume will no longer be able to hide in the woods, and we will be able to make farms and villages in lands where there was previously nothing but wood."

He cleared his throat.

"Of course, that is simply my suggestion. If you have another idea, explain it to the others and we will decide what's the best course of action."

Talk to the generals and August

Lord August is the first to speak. "The peninsula is heavily forested, this is true. And mostly abandoned by the peasantry due to the ongoing conflicts and 'diplomacy' of De Plume. However I have reservations about committing to such a dangerous plan. Large fires are dangerous. It is unlikely it will damage Talama, Shola or Mileth but there is no guarantee that we will catch De Plume.  And we will likely murder any innocents still in hiding there. However it -will- deny De Plume any ability to hide and skulk about.

Since she refuses to fight in the open it may be the best solution for solving the problem. On the other hand she has done nothing against Ligoria since the Lord Protector's death. Is committing to this plan the greatest move?"

Talvius says nothing, and Alaria who is normally incredibly silent shrugs and says "Works. Has problems. Decide or we will."

"The baronnes is a loose end. Letting her alive means allowing her to fight another day if she decides to attack our borders, and even if she no longer makes any hostile action, our neighbors will see it as a ligorian defeat. I say, we burn her out. The forest fire should be easy to see from far away. If innocents are still hiding in the forest, they will have time to escape - like De Plume's bandits. We are not trying to burn anyone alive, we're simply trying to take away their ability to hide from our forces. We do not need to burn down every forest in the peninsula, only the woods in the lands of the nobles around Vale. Once that's done, De Plume will either have to face us in battle, or leave the peninsula - she cannot defy Mileth's strength or Shola's 'specialists' with her bandits."

Kathos stopped a moment, looking at the maps.

"Alright. Two questions : Sir August, are you going to join Alaria at the borders, and Alaria, how much regiments do you think you will need to lead this operation?"

"That's an odd reason to call someone in to see you, could've just sent a letter or something," Terryn replies, rolling the name around on his tongue, "Will..."

He shrugs, his shield arm swaying loosely as he does. "It's been better."

"Well, I thought was a good thing to ask while I was thinking. And it was to be polite as well."

"The thing I really want to talk about is how much it would cost for you to watch over Polca while I...attend to other business. But you seem quite drunk now. Perhaps it would be better to talk about it when you're sober, and can rip me off better."

Terryn grinned, and waved a hand. "No, that's alright. I can rip you off now."
He frowned, then, and contemplated for a moment. "Well, it depends on how long you'll be gone and whether or not I'm just supplementing your own guards or doing something else."

"Maybe a season, maybe less. I expect you to defend Polca, using my own Guards and yours, use your skill at tactics to make sure nothing bad happens while I'm gone, you can't raise taxes, can't loot, if the citizenry riot or rebel again I expect you to attempt to talk them out of it, to keep an eye on the reconstruction of Polca, and to monitor the situation while I'm gone. My own men will make sure you don't break these rules or do anything that goes against my wishes."
