Eurika was halfway through arcing an eyebrow before catching herself. She thought about what this person meant. Something she had that wasn't her's, and something that was not her's until recently, after the dinner, more exactly. Either...

"I do? I was not aware of that."

She played the card of ignorance. Something that never gained anything, but rarely lost anything either. Especially if one is actually ignorant of something.

He tapped her other side with Zerim.
"Good. Now you can rise..."

The Crimson Guards attempt to stop any other minor riots, by arresting in good cases, beating the rioters till they stop in medium, and killing in others. They also put out any fires they can see or at least starve them of fuel. Any injured will be arrested and patched up. Along the way they search for Gavin. William will assist in this.
Eurika is also given 1d.

((Also: I need to come up with a grisly way to kill the preacher. Please wait.))

William arrived at the barracks, and waited around for Laythe or her guards to let him in.

"I can understand your ignorance of the entire political situation surrounding it. And, as you've seen a couple of days ago, William is steadily losing his grip on Polca, and I will not stay in this wretched city any longer than I have to. Rationally, it would benefit you most by coming with me to Shola.

I have a use for skilled people like you. I've seen you fight, and no doubt you hold some power of persuasion, so, name your price, Eurika, for your services."

William arrives in a small room, with a table and a few chairs. Laythe is sitting on one, with her bodyguards standing on either side of her.
"William, I believe we have a few things to talk about..."
The tone of her voice belies how seemingly angered she is.

Eurika nodded.

"Well, name my price I shall, but I am not exactly a noble from birth, so pardon me if I do the series of acts called... haggling."

She ran a number quick calculations. How much would she need to kickstart her Plan? Engineers, the technology, the metal, the workers, the ...

"Seeing as William has not, of yet, forbidden me and/or ordered me to follow him, I could go with you to Shola (wherever that may be; pardon my ignorance of geography), and readily do your bidding as long as it doesn't endanger me. Still... say, thirty ducats?"

She was pretty sure Laythe would decline. Thirty ducats was an outrageous price, and she made sure to express that Eurika herself did not believe Laythe would accept it.

[Detection rolls will happen whenever Gavin makes an action - without the malus now, since Will is helping]
[4] The riots have all died down after the battle in the main street - the peasants understood who rules the city. [6] All the fires are put out - including the forest fire outside the city. You could have let the woods burn some more to get farmlands, but instead now you have an half burnt down forest that's completely useless and ruins the scenery. [3] There are little injured to fix up - most of them are already dead by now.

"Heh, brave but foolish. I admire that. I suggest you set it to a more reasonable price, say two to three ducats as a starting wage?" Laythe smiled. This one was cunning, atleast to a point where it was valuable but not a certain risk atleast...

"So, how are you doing today? Feeling any better?"

((I don't feel like writing this.))

William stands the priest up at the top of the pile, securing him to the pitchfork with chains, before allowing lighting the pile aflame.

"Could be better, but we really need to discuss giving a damned brigand a noble title. If a little fog started those riots imagine the backlash for actively acting against them would be tremendous, especially since you plan on arming them and using them to guard the city."

Another dilemma. Show all her cards? Should she reveal her motives to this unknown person, who probably isn't exactly the kindest backer?

No.

Her instincts screamed against that.

"Two to three? Hmm... For a year? I can't really promise I'd wholeheartedly support you for that, though I could  work for you ... "
Eurika trailed off, pretending to investigate her fingernails.

Besides, it wasn't nearly enough to even start a business, let alone recruit engineers.

Earlier that day

After the conversation with the head merchant

Lan paced around her tent, thinking about the future prospects of her course. The city of Polca was in what was likely a civil war, or at least civil unrest and the lands are fraught with bandits and irate citizens of whichever land they were sworn to.

Though, she only knew parts of Ligoria from traveling messengers and maps, especially on Talama but as she was here, it was time to experience the place firsthand. The marketplace sounded good enough, buying a personal weapon wouldn't hurt either, maybe augmenting her ability of self-defense if she got lucky and recognized their wares. Getting acquainted with the locals wouldn't hurt either.

However, she was also warned about the ports and the "darker" sides of Talama, whichever side that meant; guessing it would be any part that night fell over first.

Making a mental note to herself, as a week was long in wait, she proceeded towards the marketplace along with her Guard Captain, Talus, and another soldier for an escort; leaving the rest of her regiment to their own action.

Lan proceeds to the Ligorian Marketplace along with her Captain and another soldier as an escort.

Laneira's regiment shall look for information on Ligoria, if there is any place to train or any local Inns. Any information on Polca would be appreciated, on orders from their Captain.

"Well, if you have an agreeable offer for both of us, I'd like to hear it. Four ducats?"

"The Polcans themselves William, not those mercenaries, the thornbred, that showed up."

Eurika leaned forward. She assumed a more serious expression.

"There is something I would prefer over money. If it is agreeable to you, instead of four ducats, could I get one ducat and a sizable business start-up, and a set of engineers?"

A gamble. Hopefully it would pay off.

"Well, I already have the engineers. Though I would have to ask what you intend to do with them before I commit such resources to an unknown cause..."
