Offer my service to the Merchants. Another regiment's worth of protection would do well, especially one that is disciplined and trained in Military tactics.

"This doesn't look like the best time of our arrival. Perhaps we should've waited for the warm days of Summer?" said Laneira to her Captain.

"I've seen the outer gates, it doesn't look well there too. The local guards are thoroughly suspicious and jumpy due to past events. A power shift occurred before we arrived here, must be the explanation of all this. Are you sure you want to leave with these Merchants? We could offer our services to the local Lord for security," replied Talus.

"We're better off aiding Merchants other than getting stuck with the political games here. Many people don't mind a Merchant Guard, too focused on those in places of power, or so is my guess. Nobody knows us and I'd prefer it to be that way until we are both familiar with Polca and it's surrounding lands. Rally the men, we're heading out at nightfall."

Only after he is done, does Ienden look up to see who he actually talked to. His ear quickly discerns the right voice amidst the people around him, soon to be followed by the owner's face.

If Ienden knew of recent local politics, he would know this man was the New Lord Of Polca: William...something.

It's a man, around the age of twenty winters, Ienden would guess. His face has a lean, almost pointy look to it. The eyes are a light grey, and Ienden gets the feeling he's being sized up. His mouth is twisted into a small grin, as if he finds everything funny.
He's wearing a leather Crimson coat much like the other three, minus the thick steel breastplate.

"Here, I'll help. Can you guys get a stretcher?"
"Yes, sir."
"Pleasure to meet you, Healer...?"

Eurika straightens - she thought she felt something, and anyways she was here too long. Closing the book, she gazes off into the distance pondering what the book was about. She couldn't get it at all.

((I think the thump of a leatherbound book would be audible.))

William's office.
There's the sound of a sword being drawn from a scabbard behind Eurika.
"What are you doing in my study when I didn't invite you in, Eurika?"

"Ienden, Ienden Bohun. And you are?"
Ienden's voice is polite and curious, but not by much. It seems that he is not too impressed by rank. As he introduces himself, his eyes already dart towards the other people, looking for more that might need his help. But then he relaxes as he sees that he is done for now.

(He knows of recent politics, but that does not mean he recognises the face. He hasn't been in the city that often and often more at the market or specific patients. He might have heard that the colors are from the new lord and his men. But this person in front of him might be an officer or just about anyone else in service to this new lord.)

'..........Shit. Oooookay, wrong move and my head will be forcibly caused to declare emancipation from the rest of my body. Why the sword? Apparently William either has spies, has something sensitive in this room that will be disastrous if stolen, or just likes his private space. Uh... no threatening moves, Euri.'

Eurika surreptitiously made sure her hands were in clear sight.

'Uh... wait, I'm a mage. That doesn't help a lot ... meh. So, I was asked a question. Answer... not too confident, because that's just stupid, but not too scared, because that means I have something to hide. Damnit, catch-22. Why am I in between a rock and a whirlpool so often? Okay-'

Not a heartbeat had passed before her answer.

"I was placing the results of that spell mil-, you asked of me, because you were not here. A lucky casting : it will work for a week when I aimed for half a day."
Eurika quickly corrected herself again. She did have to break that habit of attempting to address William as milord.

'Hopefully, the next thing I feel won't be the cold touch of steel to my skin. Or the slightly less cold touch of steel going through my skin. Or the quickly draining warmth of blood draining out of my skin. Or...'

Her thoughts were in turmoil as she waiting for the next thing to happen, thoughts becoming more dire each sentence. Damn her and her own overactive mind!

William's Office:
"I was placing the results of that spell mil-, you asked of me, because you were not here. A lucky casting : it will work for a week when I aimed for half a day."
[4+1] William sheathes the blade and approaches the desk, slowly. He picks up the bottle and moves it around, watching the needle follow the glass. He nods.
"Hm...Good job, Eurika."
[1]Eurika notices him looking at the book she just closed, if only for a moment. He turns his head and makes eye contact with Eurika.
"But can you tell me which book you were reading when I walked in?"

Clearing:
"Ienden, Ienden Bohun. And you are?"
"William Sarturi, at your service, Medic Bohun."
William casually extends one of his gloved hands for a handshake

"Uh..."

Eurika raises an eyebrow... trying to think... and gets nothing.

"Actually, I don't think I remember anything."

She taps the cover of it, and tries to remember something. Anything. But nothing.

"...I'm drawing a blank. I don't think I absorbed anything... there were too many words I don't know."

Eurika stands there puzzled. Then, she realized something.

'Okay, that sounds like a lie.'

"William Sarturi, at your service, Medic Bohun."
William casually extends one of his gloved hands for a handshake

Ienden shakes William's hand with a grip that seems more used to touching fragile herbs, yet with an undertone that suggest strength enough to wield a sword instead.
"Nice to meet you sir Sarturi. How can I be of service to you? I do hope you are feeling well?"
His eyes seem to already dart along William's face and body, checking for any signs of disease or hurt. He does not seem to be aware he does it though, more like an automatic reaction due to his years of working as a healer.

William's Study.
"Uh..."
"Actually, I don't think I remember anything."
"...I'm drawing a blank. I don't think I absorbed anything... there were too many words I don't know.
[5]"Un-huh...Well if I may suggest something, if you do remember anything, you probably should forget or atleast never mention it to anyone ever again, unless i'm dead and gone. Or...Else."
William tone starts out friendly then quickly slips into menacing.
"Do you understand, Eurika?"

The Clearing
"Nice to meet you sir Sarturi. How can I be of service to you? I do hope you are feeling well?"
"Yes, I am, thank you. Just continue assisting the injured...I may however have work for a herbalist like yourself, if you want to come by my Manor later, I'm sure I could find you a job."

At the Clearing((Magic Show))
"I'll gladly donate 1 primat, to your cause, Sir...And if I can suggest something? I would like that you kept the people from exiting the city for this, the bandits might harm your congregation or you...I could find a building for you to use or something or let you use a park."

Donate .1 ducats to preacher((Gavin)) from the treasury.

"Thank you for your donation. And please do not worry about me or the bandits anymore. I will try to stay within city walls now. I just wasn't sure of the reception, and a man of my... profile can't exactly reveal all in the open, can he?"

He looked over the crowd and saw a man helping others, another couple of armed men talking and the white-haired woman. He did feel something in the circle, so it was likely that he was not the only one with talents here. But he did not dare to reveal himself anymore than he did already. He graciously acepted whatever else people gave him and patiently listened to their impressions and questions.

Ienden nodded to William.
"I'll return home for the night then, to rest. Tomorrow I'll visit your manor so we can speak more of this."
With these simple words Ienden turned around and left the clearing, where most people have been going home by now. It turned out late after all. Maybe that gut feeling Ienden had, is now coming true. Some stranger offering him a job, a prophet doing strange things and this feeling of change. It was probably all connected. Too much coincidence in too short a time...

After a good night's sleep and a quick breakfast, Ienden gathered his stuff and went back to Polca. Following the directions he went to the manor and knocked on the door. When a servant opened the door, Ienden informed him that William Sarturi wanted to see him concerning a job offer and if sir Saturi would be available now?

"Do you understand, Eurika?"

Eurika blinked.
"Yes, milord."

She turns to go.

At William's Manor, A Day After the Clearing Incident:
When a servant opened the door, Ienden informed him that William Sarturi wanted to see him concerning a job offer and if sir Saturi would be available now?
"Yes, he's expectin' you in the...Garden. And I'm a guard, not a servant."

Ienden is told to check any weapon he has at the door, and after a quick patdown by a moderatly attractive female Crimson Guard, is lead into the garden,  where William is lounging on a stone bench, a blade lays beside him within easy grabbing distance, and several guards make regular patrols. He indicated another chair across from him.
"Welcome, Medic Bohun, would you like a drink or two?"

William's Office
"Yes, milord."

"Can you make another of these? This time with a gem instead of a glass bottle?"

"And please, call me William..."

Eurika nodded and left.

~~Room

Another spell, then. Hopefully it'll work this time too. As long as the gem was intact, she could recast with another spell until it worked.

Cast the seeking spell on the gem and another compass. Try again if it fails, barring destructive situations.

After that, Eurika sits in her chair, thinking.
