"So you're sticking with your story. Well alright then. So what is it you want to meet with us regarding, sir?"

"I originally wanted to meet with you to tell you what happened, and to ask you to make sure that the word doesn't get out, for the army's morale... But it's too late for that now. I need your support. You control the army now, and without you I have no hope of holding it together. A new Lord Protector will be chosen in a few months, as soon as the fourth council member arrives to Ligoria. Until then, I'd like to make sure that you two won't do a coup against me to take the power."

[Skyrunner]

"Yes, milord called?"

Eurika cautiously entered William's study.

[filiusenox]

William winces.
"Yes...Call me William or Sarturi. The Mi'lord thing annoys me."

"Ever been in combat or led troops?"

[Skyrunner]

"Combat? Of course! One doesn't become a swordsman without fighting, and so did I. As for leading troops... nope. I've always been on my own, so I have no experience in such."

Eurika grinned at William's wince.

[filiusenox]

"Well, hands on learning is the best sort, there's a bandit problem in the countryside that is preventing me from carrying out other...plans. If you take care of them, I'm sure I can find you some land to rule or a business to run. I'll be putting you in charge of my Crimson Guard unit, and any other unit I can scrounge up. How does that sound, poppet?"

[Skyrunner]

"Assuming I succeed, pretty good. Can you brief me? What's the bandit's numbers, their training, and other tactical information?"

Eurika thought to herself that this was an excellent opportunity to start on the Plan. Of course, she would have to not die first...

[filiusenox]

"Absolutely unknown. They may, however be a standard archer regiment. But that is one of the reason I would give you nobility if you come back alive and with at least half of my men intact."

[Skyrunner]

"Nothing? None at all? Not even their location?"

Eurika's hand twitched up, before returning.

"If that's the case... it might be better to scout first...?"

[filiusenox]

"Did you...Did you just raise your hand...?"

"Great Tactical thinking, we'll make a warlord out of you yet... You'll be in charge of that too. I would normally be doing this myself, but there is business I need to attend to in Ligoria. If you need any money, just ask Lizzy."

[Skyrunner]

"Hand..? Oh, I suppose. I have a habit of biting my fingernail sometimes. ...Hmph. Fine, mil-William. I'll do as you say... "


Eurika half-turned.

"Oh, but who's Lizzy?"

[filiusenox]

"Sparring partner. Black haired girl who looks like a boy in the wrong light."

[Skyrunner]

Eurika left and hopefully finds Lizzy.

"Hi again! I've got a bandit extermination mission from L. William, and he asked me to consult you. What I want to know most is, 'Do we have any scouts?' Second thing is, 'How many regime ts can I take? If we have scouts, please tell them to comb the countryside and find those bandits' base, or track them from the last reported bandit incident. If we don't, I guess I'll have to take another measure."

[Terenos]

The one doing all the talking takes out his belt knife and starts cleaning under his nails.
"You pay the bills, lord. Means you call the tune. We'll keep the troops in order, whatever that takes. Oh. And if you plan to put us under the thumb of that psychotic bastard William whatever his last name is? Then, you'll have problems."

[Shootandrun]

Kathos looked annoyed.

"William is the only eligible man who is a competent general. He has lead ligorian troops twice, and twice he won outstanding victories. After all, he managed to take a castle by himself, and he conquered an entire city with three regiments. He treats his men well, he has a good sense of justice, and he's more concerned about the good of the people than any other politician in Ligoria. If I don't get him into power, you two will most likely be under the command of an incompetent general - and last time that happened, we suffered the most humilitating defeat in the nation's history. What's your problem with William?"

[Terenos]

"I hear tell that city he 'conquered'? Was given up by the Lord what previously held the job. A single castle from some borderland noble? Ain't no great conquest..." He pauses for a moment here, then makes what you think is a sign for warding off evil "Except Baroness De Plume, o'course."

"Now. I'm all for competence. But William aint a soldier anymore. Hes a lord. With a Lord's problems. And I aint gonna be dying to the Black Company."
