"I think I'll have to research for a bit before committing," says Eurika. She retreats from Laythe's place of meeting.

This time, go find William.

William is sitting out in front of the gate, resting against the thick stones of the wall, a bottle of whiskey in one hand and Zerim in the other. A blond woman, Chironas, his lover/mistress/ally sits beside him, frowning a bit, but remains as mute as Will himself.

He sips the bottle slowly, and doesn't seem to recognize Eurika as she approaches.

"Uh, hello, William. And may I ask whom I am in the presence of ...?" she says apprehensively.

William tips back the bottle, his eyes finding Eurika. He smiles at her before throwing back another shot.

"Hey there...?"

"Eurika. A baronet. Of yours."

The woman scowls a bit, and looks away.

"Oh. Hey Eurika, how's working with Laythe going?"

Eurika had a puzzled look for a while, before saying,

"Oh,the current contract is done. I received a payment of four ducats via doing nothing, which was unexpected. I don't know if she expects me to continue working under her or not. I came to ask your opinion—if any—on setting up a business. Do you think it would be better for me to create one in Polca or in Ligoria?"

He must be drunk. Eurika didn't understand why she was asking this of an inebriated man.

With a sharp exhale, William closes his eyes for a moment.

"What sort is it, Baronet?"

"Service, broadly, but more specifically hiring engineers to fulfill any contracting orders, and in the future to help with the mechanics of cannons."

William takes another sip from the half-empty bottle and spits it out.

"Polca. I'll be hiring a few engineers to fix that hellhole up sometime in the future. But it'll be me paying you...so I don't know. Picked me at a bad time."

Eurika looked politely confused, which would have been a straight 'What?' with others, and said,

"Uh...what?"

William rolls his eyes.

"Build it in Polca, dear. I'll be fixing and renovating that city soon and will hire your engineers. But that'll be me paying you, might not get so much business from others.

"Yes, I suppose I'll build it in Polca. It has a port, I remember, and ports are always good for importing stuff... Well, if you don't have anything to say, I'll be going now?"

"Help me deal with the Black Company and expand Polca's borders enough to stop the damn people from bitching so much. You'd expect tax-breaks, the ability to speak freely and all those other pesky things would stop them from bitching so damn much about a few bandits."

"I accept. I suppose we'll go to Polca as soon as possible. Laythe, will you mind if I borrow two of your ships to carry my personal forces to William's domain? It will only take a week, instead of a full season if I send them by land."

Gavin was finishing his beer and observing the folk in the tavern. Mileth was a rather strange place, coveted by all kings and princes from All sides of the world, yet Gavin did not know why. The city was rather unimpressive in size or wealth, but heavy on defence, with all the guards romaing around. mercenaries were standing guard on every street, and the city elite was apparently rather paranoid, making rousing speeches and urging against spies and enemies of the state.

To Gavin's favour though, the Plague that spread in moun was a rather good way to use the aleady partanoid Milethians to his advantage. The tavern was abuzz with news of the disease and another army marching towards the city. "Perfect moment for perfect magic." Gav smiled to himself gleefuly. Mileth was well on its way to becoming the centre of the know world, even if that was to be only for a brief moment....

Receive the messenger within the tent. Have a few men posted outside.

[5] The messenger arrives in your tent, looking nervous. Outside, alot of your troops are still in the woods, out of view, but they're making alot of noise - you think he may be thinking you have more men than you truly do.

"Welcome to the domain of Mileth, mylord. The lord of the city has sent me to learn about your intentions and your identity."

Question the innkeeper

[6-4] "The house with the red door... Why, of course I know where it is. However, I'm not sure the owner of the place would appreciate if I did tell you the location... I don't like taking risks without a good reason, if you catch my drift. As for Ligoria? They say the Lord Chancellor Kathos has made a deal with the deposed Queen, and has allowed her to return to her throne. Of course, she besieged the city, but it's interesting to know that he surrendered. They say the man killed his ancient partner before giving her the city. Whatever happened, her reign won't be stable for a little while."

Mark heads into the city and finds a tavern. Once there, he tries to gauge the status of the city and it's government (that is, the populace's opinions on it's rulers, the economic situation, etc.).
[2] You find the tavern nearly empty, and the few who are there don't talk much. [5-1] While they are not willing to speak of politics, you do learn that the city is relatively wealthy. Ligoria has a high population and larger territories than most city states, and one of the strongest armies of the Storm Coast. However, its navy, consisting of three transport ships, is somewhat lacking, and little trading happens in the port when compared to merchant cities like Vasir, Groaning, Lechem or Dalannor.

Say this^ and try to intimidate the man.
[Please try and keep a certain quality to the posts. Speech is colored, actions that are not rolls (IE: He looked at the soldier) are neither in bold nor colored, and actions requiring rolls are in bold. This is to avoid confusion.]

[6] It works. The man looks somewhat scared, and he says something in his language. The guards bare their fists and move towards you. Looks like you're in for a beating.

[5] Well, you would be if these men weren't all idiots. You easily run from them, going into an alley and then taking sharp turns. Within a minute or so, you've escaped.
