"We go straight for Talama, Your Grace. Kathos is an experienced siege master - if he learns that you're coming after him, taking Talama will be hell for us, especially since we don't have any siege engines or engineers. There are only three regiments inside the city at the moment. Taking it should be relatively straightforward if we can take him unaware."

"That mission is dangerous and has few chances of succeeding... You are perfect for the job. I will pretend to give the command to Talvius while you're away, which should make him happy, and I'll start working on the defense of the city. Be careful, though. I'll need every good man in this kingdom before this story is over, I fear..."

Pushes himself up from his seat. He lock eyes with Kathos, watching him for a moment with an appraising sort of grin.
"Farewell, I'll be off. Do you know where that General Woman is at...and where I can buy some nice, black cloaks, a bit of gunpowder, and some whiskey? Didn't think to bring some Lonemine stuff."

"Cloaks and whiskey you'll find at the market, gunpowder I'm not sure there is much in Talama. Good luck, William."

Prepare Talama for a siege;
Interrupt the training of the regiments currently getting upgraded
Send a few men in the city's surroundings to poison every well within three days' march, by dumping dead animals inside
Send soldiers to bring the peasants around the city inside, and have them collect all food in the farms and bring it inside too (justify this by telling the peasants that they'll be paid a fair price if the food is eaten)

All soldiers or citizens must go back inside the walls as soon as an armed force is seen coming towards Ligoria, if they haven't already returned
All soldiers in the city must be ready for battle at all time (sleep near the walls and keep at least a part of their force on the walls at all time)

Hire an engineer, now (-3d) and have him build a catapult (-1,5d)

It is now Autumn...
[2] And with the flaming red change of leaves and the biting fall air comes the tempests for which the Storm Coast is named. In the last few dying days of Summer, the coast is rocked by wind and rain. Several ships are sunk, and several farms flood. Though it could be worse, it has been better. As the people scrounge what little they can from the drowned harvest, the price of grain and other food staples rises. It will be a difficult season, but the people will endure.

As the Republic of Ligoria campaigns against brigands and bandits while shoring up their defenses for the inevitable coming of a deposed Queen, and the people of Polca toil under the new rule of a foreign Lord and his mercenary lackey, life continues on, each player unaware of the part they play in the world's greatest drama.

Far to the south, following one particular brutal storm, the city of Moun closes its gates. None may leave, and none may enter. Within and without their high stone walls a plague rages, it is said, killing indiscriminately as it sweeps through the ranks of the citizens high-born and low like some unstoppable, invisible army. Word spreads quickly, fear seizing the hearts of those who live closest to the City-State, and false practitioners of the medicinal arts begin to arise with an alarming frequency. Such this way of things.

Previous Season (Summer 417a), Next Season (Doesn't Exit)

At Mileth's outskirts...

"At last we are far enough from the Empire! We should set camp here, it's been a long march; have the news passed on among the ranks at once, they deserve the break (...)"

"My campaign won't get far without new subjects under my wing and swearing fealty to a local lord is out of question, the only option is to take over a settlement by force and have them conform to my rule... Mileth is underdeveloped and , while the neighbouring lords are no doubt a threat, the province itself stood no chance against that minor imperial invasion all these mo0nths ago, it is the perfect target. I will try and draw a few locals to the army in preparation of the assault, the men are tired from the travel, let them rest for now"

Draft a personal guard regiment from the local populace.

When the "Rebel" army reached the outskirts of Talama, And when it's leadership realized that Kathos knew about their attack, Laythe ordered more serious equipment to be prepared for the assault.

Build ten siege towers. 0.44 ducats remaining.

Send all warships to Polca to buy food for the city. If possible, get it at a reduced price (government business, present William's seal if needed). Use all money left in Ligoria's treasury/Kathos' personal fortune to buy as much as possible, and come back to Ligoria quickly.

At the beginning of the siege...

A rider leaves the city, carrying a white flag. He is unarmed and unarmored, but his banner allows his to pass through the sentries unchallenged. He stops before the camp, quickly gives a letter to an officer, and backs away a little. The letter is for Laythe.

Quote from: Letter
I want to talk. I think you'll find my offer interesting. Willing to meet you out of range of the walls, as long as none of your knights are on horse and none of your archers are within range. I will come armed - I am not the Arctic Fox - but you can keep your distance from me during the discussion, I won't be offended.

A few minutes afterwards, the messenger was given a letter back and back to the city.

Quote from: Letter
I cannot make any guarantees about my knights being unmounted, nor my archers being out of range. I can say that I can keep my own distance however.

If you do not wish to negotiate any more due to my terms, then I have no interest in dealing with you by any means other than steel.
