Meditate on my mistake and attempt to ast the spell yet again.

Meditate on my mistake and attempt to ast the spell yet again.
[5] You understand your mistake and feel ready to try the spell again, until you realize that for your purpose it will be hopeless: in the best case it will last a week or two, in the worst only a few hours... If it works. A standard disguise might be more efficient if you want to get in the city.

Where she was led to was the old city guard barracks, in which the knights had taken up residence due to the fog and looting. She is led inside to a small room with a table and a few chairs. In one of the chairs sat an armoured and quite injured woman. Standing beside her are two bodyguards, bedecked in a regal blue armour.

"Hello...Eurika. I would offer... to have... meet you... in better circumstances. However... my injuries prevent that from happening..."

She winced.

"I don't know..."

She felt a rush of something... adrenaline? Or perhaps the fight/flight feeling? She had to consciously not run away.

Hopefully, that's the right choice.

Hopefully.

"Yes, well, hello, first, or rather second, time we make an acquaintance. I think we met at the unfortunate dinner a couple days past..."

She bows slightly and straightens. She keeps a respectful distance.

Laythe coughs heavily for a bit, then seems to settle down. This happened to help clear her voice, however.

"Indeed. Please, take a seat, I have something I want to discuss with you."

Eurika does as she is told. She lays her hands in her lap, and looks at Laythe attentively.

"Discuss what, Miss...?"

Flicking ash from the end of his cigarette, the Hedge Knight tilted his head to the side and studied William and the white-haired swordswoman for a moment. "Oswald," he began, stepping forward to slam his foot into the priest's chest and then, unnecessarily, hold him down that way, "Have the injured Thornbred gather here. Direct the rest to begin piling the bodies of the slain peasantry here as well. We'll need to dispose of them before they rot. And..."

He paused, and shook his head. "No, that will all be Oswald, nevermind."

-The Thornbred begin to create a funeral pyre composed of slain peasants.

William's grip on Eurika's shoulder uncomfortably tightens for a moment. Something in his eyes shift.

"No."

William pauses for a moment.

"No I didn't... I never want to have to kill. I want to make the world a better place. Without war. Where children can live peacefully and people can be well-fed and content with their lives. Not this...Never this."

"Both of you kneel. And no, it's not for that reason, or the second more psychotic reason."

Eurika kneeled, curiously furrowing her eyebrows.

She did a sideways glance at Terryn.

"There are very few reasons that I will kneel," Terryn replied, somehow affecting a smirk despite the sudden fatigue that had washed over him in the past few moments, "and you've just ruled one of them out."

The smirk left his bloody face, and he remained standing. "In any case, my current injuries are such that I doubt I'd be able to rise again if I did so, and there is work yet to be done. Never mind the fact that Captain What's-His-Face ensured it would be rather uncomfortable to do so for some time, in his final moments."

"I'll have to do your's later then. And when I do it, you won't have to make any oaths or anything."
William winked at Terryn.

He glanced down at Eurika, before wiped most of the blood of Zerim. He laid the flat of the blade on Eurika's shoulder.
Eurika, I hereby grant you one parcel of mine in Ligoria, all the rights and incomes from said parcel, and the title of Baronet, with all the rights that, that comes with. In return I expect loyalty to my ideals, which means you need not have loyalty to myself. Do you accept?

". . . I do."

She was fine with that.

Terryn arched an eyebrow inquisitively, but said no more. He had been knighted before, and though this was not quite the same he would remain silent so that the woman would have her glory. Behind him, his men continued to create a pile of the dead.

"An... opportunity of sorts. I'll be leaving Polca soon, if only for proper medical treatment. I'd like you to join me, if only due to the fact you have something that rightfully belongs to me..."
