My best was an adamantine artifact grate. Yeah.

I then had three other artifacts after it, each containing at least 15 different materials and having at least 2 pictures of the grate each. One was a mug.

Still hugely preferable to an adamantine toy boat menacing with spikes of adamantine, with hanging rings of adamantine and an image of its creator laughing in adamantine.

Or the doctor choosing to use adamantine strands for suturing for a change. You can't even sell the dwarf actually I'm not sure about that if you cage him with a webbed trap.

A dwarf with adamantite sutures is like a savings account, assuming you can recover them after incineration/decomposition.

Just got a candy artifact BUCKET .... i wana just .... just .... no word's people .. no word's

ANY WAY any other USE'S of your candy you want to share about?

A pissbowl worthy of a mountain king! ... or, build a Roman-style vomitorium... the possiblities are endless!

How exactly would you build an entrance/exit to a colosseum using only a bucket?

I don't even.

I don't know about that.  My best marksdwarf squad of all time got most of its kills thanks to bashing.  It worked pretty well, since they would cripple them with bolts from afar, then rush in and smash their heads in with their *silver crossbows*.  Then came the FB that turned them all into zombies...
Things only got better from there.
I'm gonna call BS on that.  Silver isn't a material for ranged weapons, and none of your invaders are going to come in with silver crossbows that I know of.  Actually goblins might, would have to double-check, but I'm pretty sure they favor bows.  Silver crossbows don't occur without modding.

Well, nor does any of the 81 forgotten beasts and 100 titans whose raws I extracted as part of another thread zombify things with its syndrome. But he calls himself a rawmancer, so he may very well have modded it.

I find it odd that nobody's mentioned the fact that an artifact adamantine crossbow is a KICKASS weapon for your Captain of the Guard.
Goblins come! He gets up on the battlements! *PEW PEW PEW!!*
Crafter fails to meet a mandate for a gem window! "Take that! And that! And that! And stop laughing!"

Far, far better than getting an artifact bucket. Sure, you can generate some happy thoughts, but there are already a bajillion other, cheaper ways to generate happy thoughts.

Silver crossbows don't occur without modding.

They do. My previous (34.02) fortress had a silver crossbow. It was either brought to the map by goblins, or by a human caravan, I forgot. But I did have a silver crossbow for sure, without any modding

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

it's decorated with alexandrite and pig bone. The alexandrite makes me suspect the humans brought it, as I don't think goblins encrust things with gems.

EDIT: the raws confirm that. The human entity entry does have gem cutter and gem setter as permitted jobs, the goblin entity does not have them. It would still be possible I guess for the goblins to have brought it in an ambush, if they had stolen it from the humans during worldgen, but chances are high the human caravan brought me the silver crossbow.

If I remember correctly, you could make silver crossbows in 31.25.

As for wasteful uses of candy... I paved a road from my candy depot to the center of every map edge using candy

I got silver xbows in unmodded games, too. Pretty sure I bought them from a caravan.

a raw adamantine millstone with hanging rings of adamantine, menacing with spikes of palm wood and raw adamantine, bands of raw adamantine and oak, studded with adamantine, decorated with square cut raw adamantine cabochons and oval cut prase, and an image of a hamster in raw adamantine.

the flags of sewage. useless piece of junk. Im sure I could use it, (how good would an adamantine millstone be really considering its a stones weight and friction that grinds grain?) but the maker used so much adamantine. it was not worth it.
