Cannot find path for web collecting

The moment I found an underground cavern, my Loom got auto-setted to collect webs and my announcement board gets mass updated every second with
"Craftsdwarfs cancels Collect Webs: Could not find path.";

while the path really is cleared.

Does anyone know the reason why my dwarves refuse to gather those webs?

It's because some of the caverns are unrevealed.  Dwarves try to path to a web to gather, but the path might take them through the unrevealed areas, so the pathing attempt fails.  It's a stupid bug.  Either turn off automatic web collection, wall off the caverns, or explore all the caverns.

You may not need to explore all the caverns to get the bug to stop, so if you go that route, keep an eye on the bug spam and stop when it does.

Thanks for the heads up, I just suspended the "Collect webs" task for now, and hope it gets fixed as I dig more alternative routes.

It's likely a deep tunnel.  These occur naturally and connect one cavern layer to the next, and if you're very (un)lucky you can have a cave and two tunnels that link the 3rd layer to the surface!  I had cave dragons eating my migrants...

Regardless, if it can be pathed, the dwarves will attempt to take it.  If the path is invisible, they'll still try, and generate job spam.  I had this happen with butchering, because some animal people killed some critters and my dwarves didn't know how to go down the cave to collect the corpses.
