Edge of the map bridges

I have to rise them for them to block entry to the fort? or just by existing there the mobs won't consider it a valid place to spawn?

mobs?

Moving on, raising the bridges on the map edges blocks them and doesn't create a valid spawn point above them, so yes it should work.

(Providing you raise them)

To do this you build raising drawbridges, one tile deep, built along the edge of the map, set to raise such than they become a wall along the map edge.  Link them all to a lever.  Pull the lever, raising the bridges, and the edge tiles will be blocked.

from "mobiles," old MUD-speak for NPCs/monsters/what-have-you.

Can i remove the lever to recover some mechanisms later? how do i differentiate 'risen' or 'not risen' 1x10 rising bridges?

Just have to remember if you raised them. Or make them 2x10.

If you never intend to lower the bridges again, you can deconstruct the lever afterwards.

And yeah, 1x10 bridges look the same whether they're lowered or not.  What I do is build a depot, and then check for depot accessibility.  The depot access map shows me if any of the bridges didn't raise.
