I've never gone to war with the elves because they sometimes sell exotic tame animals such as tigers which can become war animals.

well i havent been ambush (seige) yet by them, and so far only 3 out of the 10 people died so far (yes i let them keep there armor it last longer) and the 3 died were traders

Pretty sure elves send a pansy ambush force that is their siege, only it dosnt count as a siege

if you really need every single piece of wood that you can get a hold of: Trade for it ... that way they will keep coming next year to sell you some more. Also wood is pretty cheap. One bin of average quality stone-crafts will buy you all the wood a caravan can carry.

The ambush is the size of a siege (Around 2-4 squads, 2 of wich tend to be archers, and a cavalry unit i do belive.)
