I could've sworn there was already a thread about this

Thought so.  This one already has more replies though, so oh well.

This seems pretty interesting, signing up. Interested how the invention system works though, because this makes it sound like you can only make something if you have the blueprints?:

Quote
“Invention” is a game mechanic players can use to invent entirely new things within the game world. To invent something, a player must know specifically how his invention is created, and must have the necessary materials, equipment, and time to experiment. Inventions can be kept secret, or traded with other players as contracts."

Also:

Quote
Social laws like property rights are enforced by the game engine itself. There are no apparent police or governments, because it’s not a game about government, but the engine enforces a free society simulating a real, ideal free-market government similar in concept to the original United States government.

Free market government where the game engine is the government but there is no government.  8)

I'd love to be a tinkerer or blacksmith or some kind of tradesman eventually. Though I'll probably still have to start off being a rock-eating caveman.

Why would you want to play as anything else? If anyone wants in on my cave-hermit tribe once this game gets going...

Will we be cave hermits that collect all the knowledge of the lands? Then we disperse throughout the planet, showing up seemingly out of nowhere, providing a boon of intelligence to the tribes of man?

Then manipulate the leaders of the tribes like puppets, influencing their decisions for war and peace, trade and industry. We would exist as the bringers of knowledge, gods among mortals.

Meanwhile, our homelands become known throughout the world as dead man's land, because we'd have a border guard of the world's best warriors. They would kill any who cross our borders. Then nobody would know we even have a homeland but us.

Then we orchestrate a war to end all wars. We create a weave of alliances among the nations that causes something of a loyalty cascade when sparks start flying. Once the world lay in turmoil from the worldwide conflict, we emerge from the smoke, unscathed and all powerful.

Some people say I have a nice imagination.
