Yeah, you technically don't have any connections, politically, per se, you are still a hopeful, until ( if ) you finish the original test.

Then my vote is to forge a document and use our thugs and vocal slickness to intimidate this "Alice" off of her stand.

Forging could have a bad effect later on. but I cant think of what else to do. We could take our new found tough guys and walk straight up to them, saying that we were hired to take back the spot that was underhandedly stolen from your client.

Let's just roll up a sheet of parchment and wave it around like iris a notice of eviction, if we act well enough, no one will have to know (obviously we will never show it to her). And then we are not technically forging anything.

Okay, so from what I can see, the choice is to use a forged document to evict the people, without letting on that you are a fraud.  I hope you guys have backup plans, if this fails.

"You've got a deal, Mr.?"

"Call me Ron.  I'll be here, if you need me."

Standing up, you gesture to Fjord and Tomas to follow you outside, behind the tavern, where you have some privacy.

"Alright, what's this 'bout?", asks Fjord, ever to the point.

"I've found a way to gain passage to Lian City, free of charge."

They look at each other, than at you, skepticism all too clear on their faces.

"There was a man there, Ron, his name was, who had a spat with another trader.  If we can evict the trader, he'll give us a free ride to Lian City, or even to the gates of hell itself if we wanted."

Fjord smiles, while Tomas pales.

"Alright, some bone-breaking.  Where's this merchant?", says the rather eager Fjord.

"You can't possibly want to hurt these people?  I'm not a fighter, I faint at the sight of blood...", says Tomas

"Pah, you pansy music-maker, just stand back and let me and my boys rough up this idiot trader.  Where's this guy?"

"It's a woman, actually.", you say.

This gives Fjord pause, and you capitalize.

"And also, I don't want to resort to violence that quickly.  I can read, and write, so I should be able to make a letter of eviction, enough to send the trades-woman away.  The only problem is that her husband is a guard.  If the woman asks us about its authenticity, we're not obliged to show her, but if the husband comes around, we would most likely have to show him, and the deception fails."

"So, Fjord, you and your, what, five or so men, will keep watch while I alone deal with the woman.  I'll approach her when no one else is around.  If you see the husband guard coming..."

"I knock him over the side of the head?"

"If you can.", and he waves your criticism aside, "But make sure to do it from behind.  I don't want anyone identifying you or your men.  And remember, that's only a last resort.  Gather your men, I'll meet you in the market district.  Tomas, you just stick back here, I'll contact you."

The two men seem okay with that, so after watching them go back inside, you troop off to the market district, where the bulk of the city's trade occurs.

Sorry if I'm taking too much liberty in devising this plan, but you guys need to give me more details to work with.  The entire point of this Forum Game is to give Bay12ers a chance to make convoluted, dastardly schemes.

So yeah, please, if you have an ingenious idea in mind, suggest it.

Sleep with the wife?

NO! DONT DO IT!

But in all actuality, I got nothing. And if you guys do take my joke seriously. . . . . . . . . it will be taking one for the team. If she is hot, it will be your pleasure. (role to see if she is hot.)

Sleep with the wife?

I see a backup plan, right there. Also, we don't want to actually make a forged document, as we won't be showing it to anyone. Just a piece of paper rolled up like an official document that we'll use for emphasis as we try to scare her off. If we get caught, we'll just have a piece of paper.

So...what?  Just proceed with the completely false non-existent document, and if that doesn't work, seduce the wife.

Okay.  I hope you have tertiary plans, if this doesn't work.  Update maybe tomorrow.  Maybe.

Errr. . . . . . Find them a better spot? Make sleeping with her the absolute last thing we do. Here is how I immagen it playing ouy:

Quote from: in my head
You enter the store and find it to be quite empty. Business must be quite slow for them.
"What do you want" You hear come from a rather bland looking woman behind the counter.
"Well," you say as you hold up the false document, "I am here on or-"
"Order of that broke old coot. Before you ask, you forgot the seal."
You barely manage to hold in your shock from the basic mistake you made.
"Well then unofficially, can we come up wi-"
"No," she interrupts again, "But I can tell you what you can do. My husband hasn't even looked at me in months. Its boring manning this shop day in and day out. If you make it a bit more exciting, then I will consider moving. If you can entertain me for thirty minutes, at least."
*A sigh and 40 minutes later*
"You do know I am coming with you now, right" she said with a you-don't-have-a-choice tone.

Well, we do need a merchant, right? Why don't we forget this other guy and just ask her. She's obviously better than him, having taken his spot.

Think of what we said to our currently loyal followers and ask that again.

Good point. Just trying to make new plans, as NRDL seems to be implying that our current one is not very good and may fail.

We work by virtue of the RNG. Any plan can fail. Our plans just have horrid consequences if they succeed. Like a bastard child and a mother who can easily find us if we succeed in our quest in becoming nobles with influence.

I'm not saying this is liable to fail...I'm just saying that KEEP PLANNING.  Even if everything works, having over 20 backup plans isn't gonna hurt your chances.  Quite the opposite.

Also, I'm really glad to see that you guys are considering the ramifications of betrayal and deceit.  This WILL help you succeed in the future, most likely.
