Prologue: Turn 8(...) Grey flies out the loft window of the barn, landing on the cobblestone street below. He feels something snap in his legs!
(...) Meanwhile,
Green kicks open the doors of the barn! Livestock spills into the street and errant sparks flood from the doorway!
Orange points at the flaming building and begins yelling loudly.
"Help! Help! The evil minions have trapped a poor peasant in the barn, and are burning him alive for their sacrifice! We must save him or the town will fall!"
"Look! He's the one that killed the guards! GET HIM!"
"No no, he's not... dammit,
GREEN GET IN THE WAGON"
Green grabs
Grey and starts running! The line forms back into a mob and begins chasing after
Green and
Grey, and the others pile into the cart! The Dongrel hops in and curls up in
Red's lap.
"Aww, who's a good giant reptile thing~?"
Green tosses
Grey into the wagon and jumps in himself. "PUNCH IT!"
The adventurers notice the approaching crowd and pile into the wagon! Davkul grabs the collection tin, Coratra grabs the reigns, and the wagon darts off at top speed!
The town of Zabrek, the only place you have ever known, shrinks into the distance. The bright glow of the burning barn reflects the brilliant light of the approaching sunset.
Odysseus pivots in his recliner, glaring at
Grey. His sword flies under
Grey's chin in a flash.
"I do not know what you have done, or if the town's accusations are true. I do know that five members of the Hero's Guild
TM appear to have absconded with a criminal. A representative will arrive at Zabrek shortly, to set the record straight and clear our names. But I'm watching you, and will not hesitate to exact justice if you slip up." He turns back around to face the road and makes a hand gesture to the others. Vladimir turns around to face the caddies, and holds out a large scroll of parchment with quill and inkwell.
"You have been officially hired as squires for members of the Hero's Guild
TM. The Hero's Guild
TM is not responsible and will not be held accountable for any maimings, limb separations or magical deformations accrued during squireship. The views and opinions expressed by adventurers in our employ do not necessarily represent the views and opinions of the Hero's Guild
TM. For further information read the contract in full, as presented by a representative of the Hero's Guild
TM."
Vladimir clears his throat. "Sign your name here please."
Name: give your character a name
Adventurer: whose caddy are you?
That's it. Don't bother giving yourself a bio. As you may have already noticed, the secondary function of this prologue was to give some characterization to your characters. You are all filthy drunks from a dead end town, so your backstory starts here. Roleplay is encouraged.
Each of you will be the caddy of one of the adventurers. It's first come first serve, so get your choice in fast!
