Note: the prologue ends (and the identities are revealed) when the remaining caddies escape the town, not when there are only 5 left. If additional caddies die, we'll keep cycling through the waitlist (starting with Brown) to bump the player number back up to 5.
"There was a fight and fire and a mean Dongrel and
I wanna go hooooooo-" Odysseus Hawklight grabs
Red by the neck and throws him to the ground!
"Who is responsible for this?! I want answers NOW!"
Brown starts backing away. "I would like to mention that I had no part in setting the tavern on fire. Unless that was a good thing, in which case I helped a lot."
Brown runs off to find
Grey, but
Orange steps in front of him and swings his broken bottle at him!
(ATT) (DEF) The bottle jams into
Brown's liver, puncturing it! He falls to the ground in immense pain. A doctor is later able to stop the bleeding, but
Brown dies of liver failure several nights later.
BROWN: DEATH BY LIVER FAILURE CAUSED BY CHRONIC CIRRHOSIS AND ALSO BEING STABBED IN THE LIVER
The angry mob closes in on the caddies, yelling for blood!
Green appeals to Odysseus.
"You must understand, the tavern was a ticking time bomb. They kept starved Dongrels in the basement! It was going to blow up any day now."
Odysseus rubs his chin. "Mmmm. I see. I presume the charred corpse over there belongs to the arsonist, then?"
"Yes!"
"It seems it's your lucky day then." Odysseus turns to the gathered crowd and begins an announcement. "Attention, fair peasants of Zabrek! Lower your torches, and amplify your relaxed states! These filthy drunks-"
"HEY!"
Blue glowers at Odysseus.
"-are not your enemies! They were attacked by the servants of
GORTHARIUS!"
The crowd gasps.
"His blasphemous servants attacked the town and destroyed the tavern! But his reign of terror stops here! We have embarked on a quest to stop him, and free you all from his tyrannical grasp!"
The crowd cheers and claps, and the adventurers bow.

Odysseus snaps, and Davkul retrieves a large metal tin from the adventurers' cart. He drops it on the ground in front of the crowd.
"Donate to the Hero's Guild
TM today! We accept gold pieces as well as Nordian shekels."
The crowd continues clapping and starts organizing itself into a line, dropping money into the collection tin. Odysseus turns back to
Green.
"Alright, you four are coming with us. Shame only four survived, but we'll have to make do and pick up another in the next town. It's not too far. We move out in one hour, make your preparations before then or be left behind."
The Dongrel approaches
Red, rubbing against his legs like a cat.
The crowd, in its donation frenzy, doesn't seem to notice the plumes of smoke churning from the loft window of the nearby barn.
Grey struggles with the door from inside,
(...) but it won't budge! In fact, he seems to have jammed it even further! The fire spreads over the copious piles of hay in the barn, and begins climbing the walls!
At this point, Grey is the only one in danger. The rest of you can choose to help or hinder him.
