stacking coins of the same type
« on: March 15, 2012, 07:13:19 am »

Well, I´m new to adventure mode and guess this is known has been asked before... but is it possible to somehow force stacking of coins of the same type again? After trading with some merchants my inventory looks like: 1 XYZ gold coin, 2 XYZ gold coins, 1 XYZ silver coin, 2799 XZY copper coins, 1 XYZ gold coin, 1 XYZ gold coin, 10 XYZ gold coins, ...  When I drop one single coin it gets picked up as one single coin and not put back onto the stack.

easiet solution: dont carry coins, instead, trade them to diamonds and jewellery.
its also better to carry diamonds since they are worth the same in every place, but gold coin of X human civilization is pretty much worthless in another human civilization.

It is not possible to restack any objects, either in adventure mode or fortress mode.

You can buy stuff with your current coins, then sell it all back (in one big transaction) at a loss to make a big stack of coins, but coins are pretty useless in game right now so there is really no point yet. But yeah as others have said there is no way to manually stack anything yourself yet.

Don't carry coins, carry large gems.

Use coins as weapons, ie throw them.

Why do you need coins anyway, it's not like there is much to buy in the vanilla game

So how do we find diamonds and whatnot to convert all of our 46434631(Human) coins to? In my world the Gem cutter in the capital is all selling the ornamental multiplier of 2 junk like lapis lazuli. Hard to convert stacks of 200 gold coins(~3k urists of value) to these cheap things.

So, Do dwarven gem cutter have these high value gems? And if so, how do we handle the currency problem. I've heard that there is an exchange rate between civs so should i just keep hordes of money in 1 civs capital while hauling all my phat loot to another civ to sell?

It's not the gems that matter, it's the fact that you're putting the value of your coins into a form usable in other civs. You could have several thousand +Elf bone crowns+ for all the shopkeepers care, what matters is that crafts, gems, and similar things maintain their value universally. The only reason everyone suggests gems is because they're valuable.
