Does it exists a modmod, or can someone point me on how to do that... I would like to have blocks that take the shape of an alphabet letter. Basically, this would be to be able to see directly on the map short words or indications, for example you put 6 blocks that will form the word BRIDGE nearby the lever that open your draw bridge...

You could mod in custom colored blocks that make letters when placed on the floor, but theres not a lot of leftover colors in DF.

You could try making several workshops, each of which takes on the appearance of a different letter. The biggest problem with this approach though is that it would clutter up the workshop menu, but it gives you great control over the colour as well as adding to the room value.

Another option is making a series of tools with no use, but each having a different tile. They would then be placed in a series of 1 tile stockpiles to form the words you need.

Another similar approach would be to make a series of stones that each use a different item symbol (the appearance they have when mined out) and a set of reactions to create them (they wouldn't occur in nature). This method would offer no control over the colour though.

or, if you want to do that simply to know which lever goes to what, Shift+N opens the note menu, where you can set up notes for induvidual tiles or areas.

This sounds awesome.  Maybe a custom workshop to create items from stone with letters as sprites?
I can imagine this being very useful when using DFTerm2

You'd actually need to make either custom buildings for each letter or make objects and place them induvidually via stockpile management

A blind creature that doesn't need to eat and exists only to be placed in a 1x1 pasture. A mutated chicken, the flesh twisted into the shape of an A and left here to be used as a signpost. Her feathers are white. Her legs are long.

Alphabet chickens would be produced from regular chickens at the Fleshforge workshop, which will produce chunks of "mutagenic chicken-twister" that instantly boils to an inhaleable gas that randomly corrupts any nearby chickens into a flock of horrifying alphabet soup creatures that are just letters with chicken legs.

Mutagenic chicken twister will come in several colors and varieties. While I am unsure how to make twisted chickens produce alphabet soup when butchered because that's not something I've messed with, they really should.

You only need ONE workshop, it makes boulder/blocks out of worthless stone that have the name of the letter and the sprite. Can be easily done. I might even do it just for fun.

EDIT: The words would be build using stone stockpiles. I think that constructions wont work, since they have a tile already and only take the build color from inorganic mats.
