Still around, yes. I suggest we an alternate universe where the tortured individual is either Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or Linus Torvald. Success for the first two is becoming a billionaire. For Linus Torvald success is making the other two fail? Something like that I suppose. Naturally the starting point would be just before they created their respective OS.
