New phone is going over my data limit - Can't stop it

-SOLVED-


I got a new phone, I start getting messages about how I am over my data limit. I look up how to turn off background data and my GPS and it brought it back down to a safe limit. I then find that it increased yet again to 8 MB over the limit. I have deleted apps and cleared some memory but the data didn't go down at all. The number also doesn't match up with my RAM or storage use.

What causes the change in data in my data plan and how do I lower it?

Turn off auto-syncs (such as weather, notifications, iCloud if you're an iPhone...)

Yes I did that. But when I did and checked my data usage, it went down. And then back up later. And now it stopped going up.

Recently I was told that I cannot lower the amount of data I have used and that it will reset next month. My data usage lowering makes me skeptical about that, but I guess it could just of been a bug with the messaging.

It's data you've sent through the tubes man. You can't make that number lower once it's gone up. The data already went through the tubes.

If it went DOWN, that's definitely a bug, unless you're on some kind of daily plan. The number you're seeing is just how much bandwidth you've used already, the best you could do is to use no bandwidth, which means it would remain the same.

The thing is, once I ended my background data and turned off the GPS and such, when I checked my data usage it DID go down. Which confused me. So yeah all is fine.

New phone and sim card, same plan. Just switched the type of phone (old one was ooooold)

Also I have a very small plan.

Would turning off Mobile Internet on your phone help?

EDIT: Actually, are you talking about Data Usage (Internet stuff on your phone, if it is in your mobile plan then this is it) or Memory/Disc limits?
