Clinchedtree the awe inspiring, god-forseken lobster of immortality lasted for 15 years before I cut down the trees that blocked of FB with poison blood. The foot rot decimated the fort. Blood, puke and water all over many z levels on the grand staircase.

Glorious.

Ballworks (yeah... didn't bother checking the name until some two years after embraking) lasted for 13 years or so, until I grew bored and released the clowns, just to see how many of them my 40-dwarf candy-clad military could deal with before the end. Not that many, it turned out.

Not mine but I think Blockedlances ran for ~50 years IIRC before the thread went quiet.

40+ years for some of my megaproject fortresses.  Those fortresses tend to become boringly routine after a while.

About 23/24 years before I killed it through messing around with DFHack. It was a mercy killing anyway.

I think my longest... Desertgates. Lasted about 3 years. I just started training a military when I realized a fortress using gold in its furniture and doors and artifacts? Probably needed a good military.

Then the goblins arrived. The newly made militia lasted about 10 seconds. And three gobbos got inside the gate. Two of them were Lashers. Suiciding 50+ things at them, did nothing.

13 years (thats auspicious) for my first really engaging fort which was Spearhills the Demon Abbey of Battle (I also played around with the name generator). I purposefully dragged it out and made it last. It took a lot of effort to keep one going that long. Nowadays I can put together a self sustaining fort no problem but back then it was harder. I relied on surface wood way too much, my defences and militia were amateurish and my food production rocketed between waaaay too much and not enough to feed anyone. I managed to get steel production going full pelt and had several legendary weapon and armour smiths by the end. The militia as a whole was crap but I had my militia commander and his squad as permanent special forces. They were the ones that did most of the killing tbh. All the FBs, goblins and assorted monsters died at their hands. The other militia were there to slow things down more than anything else. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable fort.

So far my longest fort was Fortressdeath at 9 years.  Never crumbled or abandoned, just set aside to play 34.02.

14 years, don't remember the name
had over 20 000 000 in my fort worth, I had lost and lots of encrusted golden doors and dining furniture
abandoned and deleted due to 34.01/boredome
First fort with 30 fully steel clad army and with masterwork candy weapons
was quite fun due to being in war with the elves day 1
Tie those two together and you get me giggling frantically every year when the elven siege came and I released my hounds of war on them

Let's just say that I was finding elf bodyparts 5z over my fort on the cliffside and the fortifications for over a year ater that
I also set megabeasts on high, therefore some 20 FBs were cruising in the caverns, most of them flying all with deadly dust/freezing attacks that killed anyone instantly.
Was just completing the FB capturing system when I lost interest in decembre

Gorerape was approaching the end of its 11th year before I took a break from it. I'm confident it will last for many more years to come, once I feel fit to play it again.

I've got an archived fort that's in its 32nd year, and unlikely to lose anytime soon; one of the two saves is after defeating Hell. Though its military strength was drastically reduced as a result of that, any one of its soldiers could take on whole sieges solo, and it still has soldiers left, so it's not actually that threatened.

That was a megaproject fort. Those tend to last far longer than others, simply because I continue having things to do after getting the essentials finished.
