You dont need to do this, but could you make a map of the whole base? I can make it look better if you want to (destroyed jeeps and stuff)

>Terkiey returns from his wanderings and takes a bed next to drago.

>The group settles in for the night; drago, terkiey and Tiruin on the beds, Maldevious camped out in the kitchen and New Guy standing outside the door to the barracks. Hours pass and the sun sets; around midnight New Guy and Tiruin switch places. It's about 1am. Tiruin is leaning against the door, riot shield dangling loosely from one hand when the first shots come in.

>Tiruin
You feel the impact before you hear anything, your shield jerking violently as rounds impact into it. Instinctively you drop down to one knee and hold the shield over your body. You squint out into the darkness, sure that the shots came from the Northwest, but see nothing.

[you are very lucky. If you didn't have that shield you would have taken two shots, one of which was a crippling shot.]

>Terkiey
You jerk awake and sit up. You could have sworn you heard gunshots.

>Maldevious
Your training kicks in before you realize whats happening, rolling out of bed, grabbing your helmet and weapon, and bringing your rifle up toward the door. You're not sure how, but you know you're under attack.

>New guy and drago
You continue to sleep peacefully, unaware that anything is wrong.

An ape? Don't You mean the APC transport?

It actually does say apc, it's just a weird font with a big dot thing on the top of the c.

But you can assume it's a big robotic six wheeled ape if you want. Might bring a ray of comedy to the impending pain.

((Woohoo! Pre-death ideology!))

"Attack! We've under fire! Northeast! Friend or Foe, sound off!"

>Clamber back into the doorway, using it's wall as added cover while shielding self, holding still. Grab pistol, do not return fire unless fired upon again after saying the above. Examine bullet marks to try to determine what gun caliber was used.

You back your way into the doorway, pressing yourself against the concrete and holding the shield out to further cover yourself.

You yell into the darkness, "Attack! We've under fire! Northeast! Friend or Foe, sound off!"

The only response from the shooters is another burst of fire turning bits of the concrete near you into fine powder. You take a quick look at your shield; it's hard to see in this light and you're not sure of how strong the shield is, but the impact marks aren't too large. Still, wouldn't want to take one to the gut.

>Terkiey and Maldevious
From outside you hear someone yell "Attack! We've under fire! Northeast! Friend or Foe, sound off!"

>Drago and New guy
You wake up to shouting and gunfire and spend the next several seconds groping blindly till you find your weapons.

Go back outside and go northeast to the infirmary.

WTF, that is a stupid idea, go somewhere suitable, and hide. No need to put myself in danger.

WTF, that is a stupid idea, go somewhere suitable, and hide. No need to put myself in danger.
Realizing you have no weapon and that your particular brand of talent is going to be fairly useless in a gunfight, you roll out of bed and crawl toward the kitchen, taking cover behind as many metal surfaces as possible.

>>Take the pistol (now named Gauss Pistol) and check if its loaded

((Inventory question: Do the coil gun shells weigh 1kg each shell, or do they weigh 1kg for each stack (10)?))
>>Query New Guy
1kg for stack of 10
.

The next moments are a mix of half panicked whispers and uncertain movements as you try to regroup. Drago rolls from bed, flips the switch on his Gauss Pistol and loads a round before crouchwalking toward the entrance.

"Oh great, gunshots! Who's attacking us?" New guy shouts to no one in particular.

"I have no idea!" Tiruin barks over his shoulder,  "Enemy fire from NorthEast of our position! Take cover and return fire. I'll hold the doorway!"

Both Tiruin and New Guy pause a moment to try and discern the type of weapons the attackers are using by their sound. The shots are louder then you'd expect for a pistol or submachine gun, but too rapid for most rifles. Probably an assault rifle of some kind.

""Don't shoot back, you'll give away our positions!" comes a harsh whisper from the kitchen alcove, "This is the safest spot on the base, stay here. I'll sneak out and ID the attackers."

There is a moment of hesitation before New Guy responds. "Alright, I'll keep myself from pulling the trigger, but no promises." Tiruin says nothing but keeps his position at the door while drago slides up behind him, ready to return fire. New Guy crouches down behind one of the beds and fiddles with his Coil gun and his High Power Batteries. The high power batteries look to be of the same size and style as the black, unmarked batteries that came with the coil gun. He's pretty sure he could swap one out for the other, but he's not sure what effect that would have. Maybe the gun could even be modified to use them all at once, but this isn't really the time to do such a thing.

While the rest of the team holds their positions, Maldevious slips quietly out the eastern door to the courtyard

>Courtyard
A square of yellowing grass and trees surrounded and enclosed by the rest of the base. A large pit has been dug in the center and judging by the blackened earth and ash it was the scene of a fire. What look to be partially burn sections of white wood reveal themselves to be the broken remains of human skeletons. Images of the mountainous pyres of plague victims that dot the east crawl into your mind.
exits: W (Barracks)
Damnit, there's no exit through here. If Maldevious wants to circle around to the Front of the Base he'll have to go past the armory and infirmary and out through the main entrance.
