Are walls able to be destroyed by building-destroyers?
« on: March 14, 2012, 04:52:47 am »

The wiki didn't say anything about it.

And I'm asking this of both smoothed and constructed walls.

Thanks for that. :)
Another question, though. Are building destroyers susceptable to traps?

The main reason I'm asking is I want an alternate path inside my fortress which is basically a long twisting 1-wide maze that eventually leads to my fortress, making sure that any mobs that path into my fortress have to go through heaps of spike, weapon, stonefall, and cage traps.

Building Destroyer and Trap Avoid are separate properties.  trolls and minotaurs are susceptable to traps; forgotten beasts are not

I'd suggest building a short way filled with traps and a longer path with possibly an airlock system. Cover the short way in restricted traffic cost ( d -> o -> r). Dwarf will take the long way, enemies will pick the shortest road inside.

Build a grid of floor grates above the entire city. Draft a squadron of masons and bomb the crap out of the city with falling constructed walls.

forgotten beasts and titans CAN be trapped if you can arrange to put webs on the traps. otherwise, no go.
trolls, though, you can catch no problem.

Actually, trolls are pretty annoying because they'll spend a few months pounding down any doors and statues they can find.  You can cage them, sure, but if there's even one stupid door out there they'll ignore your entire fortress until they've smashed it.

So I always build them some cheap no-quality statue out front, surround it with spikes, put those on a repeater, forbid that zone and make troll-kabobs :)

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
