Arcane Steel - Turn 27 - It is not over until it is over
In between sweat and the fatigue that starts to settle early upon the members of the party in their desperate sprint towards the open fields, their morale is only enhanced as the first rays of sunlight they have seen in a long sequence of minutes, which seemed to have been more than an hour, filters through the charred remains of the trees ahead.
Candy mostly exists.

April GETS OUT OF THE FIRE and finds the others.
AprilApril keeps running through the flaming forest, [4] managing to find the rest of the group and trying to tail them into safety. The heat and the occasional flame were an ominous danger to all gunpowder-carrying members of the party, and it is an exceedingly happy moment when she finally leaves the hell of fire and smoke they had been in for the last few minutes.
Diego continues carrying Davie to safety.
DiegoDiego keeps carrying the limp body of Davie to safety. [5] His determination to save a teammate shows through his actions, and the spaniard manages to weave between the stalks and fallen branches amidst smoke and heat to finally reach the outer parts of the woods and give a final leap towards safety, smoke trailing from his attire as the small fire on his robes consumes the expensive, well-woven cloth...For some strange reason, Ricardo is not anywhere, nor their horses.
Adrienne patted the unconscious bandits rump, a wicked smile on her face.
"Sleep, my lover..sleep very well..."
Action: Find my horse and throw my bandit over the saddle, retreat with the rest.
AdrienneAdrienne keeps running with the group, sparks flying around her. [3] Even then, they are mostly a constant inconvenience and thanks to her good initial sprint, she finally finds herself out of the small pocket of forest. She sees what the rest of her teammates see: the town some kilometers away, some burnt remains of branches around the outskirts of the burning trees...And their horses are nowhere to be seen.
Thelfin keeps following the rest of the group and help them to carry the wounded ones.
"So what is the plan besides pulling back for now?"
ThelfinThelfin sees Davie is already being properly taken care of and keeps running. [4] As the rest of his team, he quickly finds himself outside the burning wreck that was once a small forest and checks the area around him.
Go back to the town with everyone else. Transfer some energy to Davie and after getting to the town go to a doctor and get my arm checked.
Well, now it is back to the village, everyone. The fire won't stop so soon.
DellusDellus keeps following the trail, now almost impossible to see amidst the smoke. [4] The "heretic" manages to break out of the smoke wall without further problems, just in time to see the rest of his team staring at the empty expanse of ground his horses had been left at. There is no time to lose, though, Davie may die if he does not try to apply immediate magical help to his body. [4] Dellus' knowledge of metamagic pays off and he manages to pass a small stream of energy into the fire mage's magical vessels.
Okay, time to go with the cliff plan. Make the cliff at least 40 stories high and jump. Also, will my sword out of existence.
DavieDavie wills his sword out of existence to try a new plan. [2] The bastard sword seems to like the place it is stuck in, and does not budge an inch. Even then, the fire mage tries to imagine a cliff with a very, very long fall... [1] Nothing happens and the sword decides to get comfy in his body. It hurts like hell, even if it happens to be the dreamworld.
Retreat, retreat, retreat!
Make sure everyone gets out alive!
"Can't anyone just channel part of the fire back into Davie?" Falion said as he sprinted back to the rest alongside his battle brother. "And don't forget the horses! Ktimbi, hang on tight to Airgead! He'll bring you out safely!"
Call Ileid, and possibly the other horses to...return and aid the ones on foot. Through a whistle.
Airgead will aid my battle brother in the best way possible.
But perhaps the horses were smarter, having retreated once the fire started. Or loyal, to await their masters until everyone was safe.
FalionFalion tries to both care about his teammates and his own life, which is no easy task...If not for the fact he is being carried by Airgead. Finally finding himself out of the fiery inferno, left behind him by a mighty leap forward from Airgead, he whistles, trying to call for the horses. He can hear Ileid answering his call in the distance...In the distance?
Burnt, disoriented, exhausted, and suffering from cranial trauma, Ktimbi tries his hardest to remain conscious and stay with the group.
Running almost entirely on autopilot, the shaman attempts to dress his wounds while moving
KtimbiKtimbi decides to dress his wounds while the wolf carries him to safety. [2] It may be the fatigue, the pain, the movement or the heat and smoke, but the african shaman is unable to do it. He is quickly out of the forest as Airgead leaps the last few meters towards safety.
AirgeadAirgead keeps silent as he runs and leaps in between the smoldering ashes. [5+1] The wolf easily catches up to the rest of the group, takes the front and leaps to the now slightly-less-green plains outside. He immediately catches up something in the air and his throat starts to rumble with a low growling.

It does not take long for the party to see what exactly is wrong. A couple of dozens of meters away from them, a group of bandits is dropping the last remains of what seems some food they had been carrying and preparing their weapons. It seems they split up and were waiting for the party in different points, judging by the fact one of them starts to whistle furiously before finally taking position. The pikemen raise their pikes and the longbowmen notch arrows and taut the strings of their weapons, aiming for the members of the party that seem to make for easy targets. Longbows take years to master, and are tools of war commonly attached to the image of the english. One can not help but wonder how many enemies carry these weapons and how many can use them properly...
Some minutes of fast travel away from them is a small detachment of the city guard, and the enemies reinforcements are coming as well. The guards are probably well-prepared enough to fend off the incoming enemies, and all the group has to do is
hold the line.

Appearance: Adrienne is a beautiful, intense woman, with long and dark red hair (though, her hair is usually shaved before battle), and dark green eyes. When not in battle kit, Adrienne tends to dress conservatively, but somewhat casual-favoring open throated shirts and flared trousers, often in earth tones. Her plated armor is light, unecumbering and well made, rounded off at the corners-masking her womanhood in the middle of battle-all except her eyes, being she prefers a slitted helm for full vision.
The Alanamont coat of arms is a circlet of filigreed gold, with a crown at the head, around a pool of red.

His plate armor is tinted light grey with a white trim along the edges of the major plates. She wears non-restrictive pastel yellow clothing (like skirts, and simple shirts, she prefers comfort over fashion) under her armor, which is (kinda) light chainmail which covers pretty much all of her (all but the head and hands (she prefers these unobstructed, and even the head has a hood.), with a thin leather backing underneath. Her coat of arms is a young, growing leaf.

Appearance: A jet black man of average build with long orange hair that cooperates with his woolly beard to form a mock lion's mane. His irises are a fiery red, a rare genetic mutation specific to his caste of shamans. He wears the traditional shaman garb: pelts of slain animals and various herbal trinkets adorn his person. He wears a crown of human wisdom teeth, one pulled from each eligible member of his tribe, which he claims contains the combined spiritual energy of his people's souls. The crest of his shamanistic family is, curiously, a mongoose encircled by cobras. One is crushed underfoot whilst the other hangs limp in the mongoose's jaw.
Characteristics: Quiet, Unwilling Participant, Incoherent
Horse: Light warhorse, drawing a cart of reagents.
Weapons: Carries a caduceus which has been passed down for generations. His tribe claims an ancient ancestor won the staff from Hermes himself. Upon each shaman's death, his successor fills a container with his own blood and places the severed head inside. The new shaman will now be protected for the rest of his natural life by his spirit so long as the container is kept close. The case that the previous shaman had kept is then dashed upon the ground, allowing his protector to be finally free from his burden.
Leaving a child behind: As is tradition, upon ascension, a shaman will impregnate a host of women until one gives birth to a child containing the rare genetic disease. The shaman is always male, (it is a y-linked gene). Ktimbi knows he has many children waiting for him at home and has met none of them, but he knows one bears the gift. In the event of a shaman dying without any heirs, all of his immediate kin will attempt to replicate the gene in their own future offspring through ritual until another shaman is born.

On the back of the strap is a quiver for holding his arrows. On the back of the coat is the family crest: a shield divided into four sections, with the upper right/lower left being silver and the other two sides being bronze. On top of the shield is a gold crown with rubies inset along the band.
