Ah-ha. Wrestling this thing to the ground today. Also, I think it was the new format that was actually getting me frightened to update. Maybe. Or maybe those tests. Or maybe because there will be a lot of number-cracking on my part as the projectiles start to fly from both sides.

Arcane Steel - Turn 24 - Arrow Sho-Fire Storm.

The soft ruffling of the folliage hides the wicked intentions and the men who have them. Bowstrings are tensed and unwieldly firearms are cocked, all of them seeking a target at a member of the squad. Most of their responses to the threat are simply non-existent, and both the projectiles and their shooters would not show any mercy.

April seeks cover. Results may vary.
-
Candy is hungry and nomnomnomming something she shouldn't be while inside April's pocket. Just hope it is not important.
-
Diego keeps watch for any return fire.
-
Adrienne is still trying to kill the enemy leader.
-
Dellus shoots bolts of light at the enemies, without specifying which ones.
-
Davie decides he does not want to be turned into swiss cheese.
-
Thelfin shields himself and the nearby psycho.
-
Falion tries to apply his glaive to nearest opening in armor.
-
Ktimbi tries experimental magic.
-
Airgead: hamstring and howl?

April gets into cover. [4v6+1] She dodges the arrow shot by the closest longbowman and [3] finds a good cover. It is very warm and cozy and it also seems able to withstand some hits; she puts her back against it and starts to reload her pistols. [3] She reloads all the three remaining pistols with ease. The air suddenly gets very, very hot and she dodges away, ending up behind a nearby tent. [6] After a short while, she hears a thunder and watches as fire starts to take over the woods. None of the bolts falls on top of her, but she can feel the heat as one of the tents explodes in flames. She is too close to the source to be hit.

Davie starts to summon his inner fire to the fray, noticing something bumped against his back. He looks back, watches as April starts to reload her pistols and shrugs, going back to focusing on his magic. [6+1] This time he can feel something different, as if the fire itself happened to be beckoning him; the preparation of the fire magic itself, once carrying a heavy price for any failure and a moderate chance of causing the combustion of the wielder himself, did not seem so hard. Yes, he may still fail, and the fires may extinguish, but the young prussian feels there is no more risk of destroying his flesh in the ways it has already happened before. Davie now has the passive ability to prepare fire magic with more ease due to a streak of good manipulation. But look and behold, it seems his new mastery in the manipulation does not come in a time of need and a second burst of fire overpowers his arms. He feels as if his blood was boiling inside all of his body vessels and the water in air around him starts to vaporize, the fire that once was restrained to his veins spreading over his arms, burning much of his clothing and crackling noisily. Feeling the danger of keeping all of the power inside of him, the mage aims his arms towards the folliage and lets go of his energy with a clapping of hands, which is transformed into the sound of a thunder by his amplified power. Davie feels as if his bones are being wrenched and torn as around ten to fifteen flaring bolts are set free from his body in quick sucession. [1] Unfortunately, controlling the excessive amount of energy is too much for him; only the very first bolts manage to hit the verdant canopy of the trees. [2] The rest of the fiery barrage spreads around the whole area, setting it on fire and punctuating their destruction with loud explosions. Davie faints immediately afterwards, falling to his knees harmlessly as the flames of his arms subside and his body starts to become cold at an alarming rate.

Diego prepares for return fire that never comes. All that he sees is Davie unleashing one of the most powerful magic attacks a fire mage - or any mage - can learn. It is a shame the majority of the flames spreads around him, missing the enemies by far. Even so, he notices any enemies still able to move are running away desperately. The rustling of the now-burning trees means even the ones hiding amidst the stalks are now too busy legging it to look back. The spaniard looks back to the fire mage [1v1+2] and avoids being hit by one of the bolts, rolling away as most of the nearby tree's leaves instantly add to the forest fire. The clearing's temperature has spiked and his brow gets covered in sweat.

Thelfin draws his heavy shield. The oversized, polished and decorated chunk of steel is extremely reliable against almost any attack the enemy may summon upon the knight, with the drawback of being very difficult to wield even for such a large man (-2 dodge). He runs ahead to shield Adrienne, but not from projectiles coming from the trees. He swings it above his head, covering both the knights as fire starts to rain down from the skies. The source is quickly discovered to be Davie, releasing all of his magical energy in one burst. The knight slowly moves with Adrienne under the shadow of the shield and towards the escaping leader. [3v5-1-2, 2] Fire dissipates harmlessly onto his defenses.

Adrienne was about to introduce the tip of her sword to the fallen leader's throat, but both the thunderclap and a prodigious amount of fire falling all around her catch her attention. The hulking klibanophor nearby shields them both as the scenery is turned into a raging inferno. [1v4-3] The frank knight tries to kill the man once more, but the tip of her sword misses him, who has started to limp away in a half-crouching, half-dragging movement. He is smiling mischievously even through his pain, [6v1-3, 5, 4-2] until one of the balls of flame drops unto him, and he starts to scream instead. [End:5] He clenches his teeth, stops screaming and starts to roll, trying to extinguish the fire and escape at the same time. You have to admit he deserves some respect.

Ktimbi attempts a dangerous rift magic. [4-2] Luckily, only small sparks of energy appear and then fade, with no terrible consequences. Fire is raging at large. [6v3, 6, 4-1] A ball of fire hits him directly on the head. His Armor of Origin soaks a part of the impact and heat, but his head is mostly on fire. [End:4] He winces with the large amount of pain assaulting him, but he can still execute actions as well as his sleep-deprived self allows him to.

Airgead is slightly distracted by the fact that there is fire falling everywhere and [1v1] is unable to hamstring the man in his first attempt. Falion tries once more to strike the man, [6-1v4, 2+1, 4-2] succeeding in puncturing his left arm's armor. The blade carves a hole and a little of blood is drawn from the man, but he does not seem too interested in staying for too long. The lieutenant starts to run away, [6v4] and fire hits him. [2,6-2] Leather is burned along with flesh and the man grimaces and stumbles, [End:4] but surprisingly he still keeps going for the trees as a wall of fire forms behind him. [2v4+2] Airgead leaps aside and easily avoids an stray "meteor", moving close to the body Falion's javelin is stuck on and allowing him to take the weapon back.

Dellus attempts to summon his power upon the magical energies of light. [2] It fails, and the blazing inferno approaches him. Oh, look, a bolt of fire. [3v1+1, 4, 3] His sword arm catches fire and he needs some medical assistance; the flames lick his skin and expose the flesh with an alarming amount of pain involved in the process. [End:3] He winces and his eyes tear up a bit, either from the pain or from the smoke, but he is still able to move, although limping and clenching his teeth.

Diego charged down from the hill to his fallen brother's side. "Dios mio, mi amigo... quite the firestorm, no?" There was no response; apparently Davie was out cold. Literally. There was a chill in the air. The Spaniard figured that was part of the risks of messing with thermodynamics and shrugged off his coat, putting it over Davie like a blanket. "I'll look out for you, yes? Keep you safe until you're back on your feet." To that end, he attempted to construct a 'half-bubble' of kinetic force that would stop anyone/thing from passing unless he wished them to (such as allies) with a 'roof' of about seven feet, and a diameter of about ten feet.

(Edit to allow Powder's action to work, too:) This bubble would be centered on Diego and follow him as he followed April, who was carrying Davie.

"Oh no! I'll get you out of here!" Simultaneously realizing she had been using Davie as cover and figuring  that leaving her battle brother in a flaming apocalypse was a bad idea, she grabbed Davie and hauled him over to the least fiery area near allies she could find.

Adrienne thought of the falling flames as well she would have a sudden rain shower-with mild annoyance. It added some lovely ambiance to blood soaked battle field of shrieking wounded, anyway.

She had to admit, the bandit before her deserved some respect. And in the glow of these hellish flames, wasn't he positively...handsome? Mmm.

"Hold still, you'll only feel my bite for a moment, darling. First the prick, then the numbness." Adrienne said-advancing on him like a spider would a fly, with a malicious glint in her eyes, preparing to clock him over the head with her shield.

Action: Knock the bandit leader out and take him prisoner

Dellus, ignoring the pain, goes away from the blazing hell, trying to erase the flames and go to a safer place to give the best treatment he can do to the injury

((What have you all done?!

You're denuding a primary forest! And killing all those delicious berries! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!))

Falion grimaced as the situation turned from bad, to worse. He surveyed the area, noting how improbable the consequences were for them. He had to drop the act...but the fire did follow his plan.

If their mission had to be accomplished, it had to be done now. No exceptions. It was imperative that they get out, and at least get someone important with them (other than the subjugated bandits, who Falion thinks are in safety behind the lines), and get out!

"Airgead, get over to Adrienne! Help her with whatever she must do, then carry her and whoever else needs help, OUT! That includes the heavy infantryman over there, if you can do so." He noticed the concerned look his ally was giving him, beneath the gilded visage.

"Don't worry about me, my friend. I will aid my brother."

True to his word, Falion goes off and helps Ktimbi, erasing his fiery nuisance and feeding him some of the berries he found before finding Airgead.

He turned towards where the mages were, "Diego! We need some inspiring music here! Care to play the dirge of death with your knowledge?"

Afterwards, he looked at the general direction of the enemy and...continued his act, "Retribution! You see the consequences of not laying heel to your mistakes?! Absolve yourselves and surrender, lest the fires consume you all!"

Attempt to demoralize enemy while helping Ktimbi.

Airgead will do the above.
