Whats your favorite breed of dog?
« on: March 13, 2012, 04:03:32 am »

So whats your favorite breed of dog? I have a hard time choosing between, Airedale Terrier's, and Weimaraner's.

(Also if you dont like dog's then dont post about how dog's are gross and evil and rip zombies to peices getting killed in the process :P)

Newfoundland / Border Collie crosses.  No other breed compares, as far as I'm concerned.  Especially not little yapping rat-dogs...

My favorite breed is any dog that isn't purebred, because the concept/industry of dog breeding and breed standards is fatally flawed, inhumane, and destructive, at least how it's been practiced for the past century or two.

My two most balanced dogs were boxers. They were not purebred, though, one came from a dog pound and the other was the daughter of the former with a purebred male

Schnauzers. The best companion for a man with a beard...is a dog with a beard.

Second to schnauzers would probably be pugs, Dachshunds, pulis, and komondors.

Also pretty fond of West Highland White Terriers ("Westies"). Good sturdy little dogs, not overly barky, and bright.

My own dog is a mutt...best guess is a mixture of Schnauzer, Dachshund and possibly Basset Hound or some kind of terrier. I call him a "Schnaushund".  :D

EDIT:
Oh yeah, and corgis rock too.

Mutts. Mutts, mutts, mutts, mutts, mutts. Purebreds are occasionally nicer to look at, but a thoroughly genetic!slurried animal is just generally a nicer animal (This applies to all animals, not just dogs :P). If you want some intelligence, throw a few of the smarter purebreds in or something.

Anyway, of purebreds I've actually had, my favorite's been pit bulls and Australian and german shepherds. I actually prefer large breed dogs, but they've got their health problems and space is always an issue :-\

Well I think shelties are adorable. Just like Lassie only hug sized!

I'm also a fan of the Tibetan Terrier, a breed that is just insanely friendly, they go against the grain when it comes to terriers in that they really just have no forms of aggression at all.

It's all that time spenting hanging out with Buddhist monks. Heck, some of them might even *be* Buddhist monks who needed a remedial trip through the wheel.  :P

Well I have been told that they were often kept in the temples and only ever given as gifts by tradition. I have heard stories that they were trained to find lost belongings in the snow if the monks ever dropped anything, and I guess their large, padded feet would be prefect for snowy and rocky mountains.
Wonderful pets!

My dog is a poodle cross maltese; He's got the poodle (i.e. full-size, not ornamental) legs and fur, with a little maltese head and body. He's also not terribly intelligent, so I'd have to call him the dumbest thing on stilts. Wonderful nature, though- and hypoallergenic to boot.

Mutts are cool. Everyone likes a friendly mutt.

That said, I have a soft spot for dachshunds. My old family dog is a dachshund. He's fifteen years old, and still going strong.

Basically, I'm all for the mutt. Our last dog was a cross between a collie and SOMETHING. The people we got it from never really figured out who the father was. They'd had their dog for five years, and then all of a sudden they found out it wasn't spayed like they'd been told.

Of course we're not getting another one because we're all still kinda heartbroken about her recent death. ._.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Probably the Newfie.  Somehow they were bred to instinctively save people who are drowning, which is strangely specific.   :P  I agree with the mutt thing though.  Crossbreeds tend to be healthier.

I like pretty much all dogs that aren't rat-sized though.
