So, I finally finished my "adventure megaproject", creating a fast, functional were-creature husk without cheaping out, scumming (too much, I did a few times, sorry) or grinding. With all failed attempts, and with my OCD forcing me to regen a world every time one failed, this took me twice the time it took me to create an obsidian-cast above-ground fortress, so I think the "megaproject" is kind of warranted. I also wanted to try to write a story. Sorry if I'm trying to make too much of a little thing or writing too pretentiously, it's not my native language, but it took a huge amount of time playing so a bit more writing didn't make much of a difference.

I hope it's not too presumptuous but I also included a save if someone wants to play with her. She's at the start of a cave which you can explore as much as you like, since she doesn't hunger, need to sleep, or die in battle. Nearby underneath should be a giant cave spider (and if you don't wash, it'll soon be a giant cave spider wicked dust thrall). Her speed is 1300 which is pretty nice for a husk. In a couple of nights she'll turn into a werelizard husk which is faster, very large and also a husk, so... I'll also present a challenge - find a battle where she'll die despite fighting to the best of her ability. Considering she's a massive husk leveled for incredible toughness, with legendary +dozens skills, wearing good quality to masterwork and regenerating her limbs once a month, I don't really see many threats. I fought a regular goblin husk with her and she just tore it to shreds.

Also, by the way, if you have any ideas so as to what to actually do with this guy after I recover from the ordeal of finding the correct mist, they would be super. How the story might go on if it does. Else it's probably back to fortress mode as I've already killed bronze colossi and dragons and modded-in fiends with other adventurers.

One last bit of fun:

She's apparently retirable in the nearby kobold village of Jitorbis.

If you do that, here's what you'll see when you come visit.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, because I've put the region 1 folder in the save directory and it doesn't show up in the game. Can anyone help me out here?

Ooh, impressive. And only ten or so adventurers to get that result, too? Nice.

Sorry if I'm trying to make too much of a little thing or writing too pretentiously, it's not my native language

Nah, don't worry, flowery language is appropriate for tales of heroic deeds ;). And anyway, your written English is actually quite good. Not just for a non-native speaker, either; I've met people at university who don't have that much skill with English, despite it being their native language. Heck, I wouldn't have been able to tell you weren't a native speaker, if you hadn't mentioned it. I think the only major oddity I noticed was a sentence which was missing a "who" (should be "The brave goblin who had stared down a cave dragon emerged from the depths.", maybe even with commas around that relative clause), and that could've easily been a typo. Do be sure that you haven't neglected spoken English, though, if you ever plan on traveling to an English-speaking country :).

[snip]

Thanks so much! My spoken language isn't very good, but I don't plan on traveling too much either, ha ha.

It took way more than ten adventurers, though. Something like ten was the number of adventurers who had started with this plan and died before becoming werecreatures. Then some died after. I had been playing with the idea of wereadventurer husks before already, with high agility builds, but this seemed more optimal.

There's an actual reason why you might want to go super-low agility even if not planning to take speed hits: it makes raising speed easier. At least so it seems. It's much easier to go from speed 800 to 1400 than from speed 2000 to 2100.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, because I've put the region 1 folder in the save directory and it doesn't show up in the game. Can anyone help me out here?

Do you have the newest version of DF?

do your chopped off limbs regenerate into clones of yourself?

if so, are they aligned with you?  can you convince them to become companions?

can you learn necromancy and raise your own severed limbs and then have zombie clones come the full moon?

I think that only happens if they're animate - i.e., zombies.

can you learn necromancy and raise your own severed limbs and then have zombie clones come the full moon?

I see no reason why that wouldn't be possible, although it might interact oddly with the husk status. I remember the one time I raised a werecreature corpse, it started regenerating fully, and people in fortress mode have reported that animate werecreature parts "breed" like starfish when exposed to the right sort of stimulus (i.e., something that repeatedly dismembers them). However, the one time I raised a werecreature, it also decided to attack me fnar, so... that might cause interesting loyalty issues. But, try it and see!

find evil resurrecting biome, or gain necromancy.  preferably necromancy so your clones will be allies.  the day before the full moon, have a few amputations.

use necromancy to reanimate your severed limbs, and survive to the full moon.

based on reports of raised werecreature parts regenerating into full werecreatures, you should soon be the leader of a zombie husk werelizard army.

in order to give yourself an edge, build a fort made out of nothing but weapon traps that will likely make a severance.  then remove the adventure mode trapavoid thing (you know, the one that protects you from getting caught in a cage trap forever).

this is your cloning facility.

then go forth and repopulate the world..... with you.

"The best thing about being me... There are so many "me"s."

That said, thank you, Hotaru. I've been wanting to experiment with a husk adventurer for some time, so this gives me a great opportunity.

That would probably be an (ex-) goblin city.

Goblins may build there in this world, but they may also expand to neutral biomes. Occasionally another party will then conquer a city goblins have built in a place like that.
