And yet there's a thousand times greater outcry from this than when other nations kill hundreds of civilians as part of official government policy.

Note that I am not defending the act. Greater attempts to identify soldiers near the "red line" should have been made, and the debates on the war itself have been held often enough that there's no point in them.

"We" aren't doing "this sort of thing". This was a random act of violence perpetrated by a brain damaged solider. It happens everywhere there are people to become brain damaged.

It happens a lot more often when you send brain-damaged soldiers back into combat after training them to be as bloodthirsty as possible.

You're right, people who aren't soldiers never become randomly violent after appearing to be relatively fine following a traumatic brain injury. Silly me.

There is almost no way to predict the long term effects of a TBI. We barely understand the human brain's workings under ideal conditions, much less damaged ones. The outcome could be anything and trigger at any time.

I don't think he's blaming the soldier. He's blaming the machinery that programs them to kill then uses them up until they're all gone, or they self-destruct like this guy might have.

The problem isn't that an individual soldier did this (well, you know what I mean), the problem is that he's going to get away with a slap on the wrist at most. *That* is why people hate America.

Air power does worse than this pretty much on a monthly basis and nobody ever gets charged with anything.

tbh my biggest shock is that the thing has gone public at all, smaller versions of this happen alot and it gets put off as 'the crowd had weapons' 'they were armed' etc etc.

And now they've moved the guy from Kuwait to Leavenworth, Kansas. Way to go guys. Yes, I know Leavenworth is a Federal maximum-security prison. Doesn't matter to the rest of the world (especially the Afghans), who will see this as "American soldier butchers Afghan kids, US Army gives him a free plane ride back to safety in the US".

If it wouldn't have caused a shitstorm of epic proportions here, I'd have been okay with handing him over to the Afghans and letting them handle it.

Cant see him being allowed to speak to anybody from the media/public, there is about zero chance he will say something that wouldnt make things worse at home/afganistan/everywhere else on earth.

On a less hateful note though:At which point in history has humanity become like this ?World War 1 was very different.The soldiers even made peace during Christmas and stopped fighting.

Some of those soldiers were executed for not killing their enemies during that Christmas day.  Which would explain why that one day of peace was never repeated.

I suggest you take off those rose-tinted glasses. Because war is war regardless of when it takes places.

And let's also not forget that this isn't a traditional war between two national armies who share the same relative cultural background.

What i am trying to say is USA should stay out of that land exactly for that reason.But then again remind me which is the only country to nuke another ?
