Buy it. Everyone. We'll have a B12 league and it'll be a  lot of fun.

Cheaper than Steam, but can be activated on Steam.

I hate dated sports games (IE 2012, 2013, etc) because I am OCD and I hate buying a product that will be replaced and need to be re bought the next year....

Does it hold true for Football Manager pre-2012?

yes.  I played 01/02 for years.  Just look at the stories from forums and communities around the game.

Their save games are epic and draw over several years, sometimes.

After all, once you get 10 years into the game you won't even know most players (and if you're playing a league you don't know at all, you won't even know them from the start)

Anyway.  Can someone explain to me how I can manage to exceed expectations with a team that was meant to be 9th (in a 10 team league) and then when everything seems to be going peachy and I have an almost perfect away form and came back from beating 2nd placed team 5 0 (biggest win so far, unexpected) I get so cocky I end up losing 4 0 against the currently 8th team?  What is WRONG with me!  Board confidence was almost flawless and now I have that ugly record...

edit:  Also, in action football games like winning eleven I think gameplay is far more important than being up to date.  Which is why I'll stick with PES 4/WE 8 as the best of all time :P  (it gets udpated/modded regularly by fans though).

I picked this game up during the sale because, I love manager sims a lot, yet I have no fucking clue about soccer outside of what I played when I was like 8. But I got it anyways, and of course because of such I am lost as a mother fuck. I tried looking at some Let's plays and such but it's mostly just die-hard EU soccer kids who just know every single player and every little stat about them, it's insane.

Either way I'd certainly play in a B12 league for this.

I'm curious, does this game have some kind of team creator? I know Pro Evolution Soccer does, and 4chan has tournaments every year with each team essentially being each board. I figure it'd be more interesting if each player in the B12 team made their own customized team, such as the LCS or DF inspired ones.

It does have a very extensive creator where you can create leagues, teams, cups, awards etc

In my Welling United save, I won the Champion's league last year, yet I will sometimes lay an egg against the 15th place Premier League team.  Try and keep your player morale up (using 'Passionate' and 'I have faith' works well for me), have a chat with them if they have a few bad games in a row.

Basically even the best team Can and will get complacent. Yell at them after a stupid loss and then move on. How'd you lose, specifically? Did their formation not play well against yours? Better players? Own goals?

To quote myself if you go into your Steam games and go to the tools section you can download the editor that way. You can add cities, countries etc too

I own a copy, and would be willing to do a B12 league.

It's great to hear people enjoying the game, I do the Birmingham City research and was part of the beta test for FM12. :)

My name is in the credits twice, under research and testing! :D

What formations do people tend to find success with? I usually run a 4-5-1, with two inside forwards at the AMR and AML spots. I have a ball-winning mid, an advanced playmaker, and a standard central mid in a support role. I find Control works well for my philosophy, although I prepare an Attacking and Counter in my backup tactics.
