Animate vs Resurrect

Sorry for making YET ANOTHER topic, but I have one more question. When something is "animated" it becomes an ally of the animator. Is the same true for resurrection? I have these summoners I'm working on, and I want them to be able to create minions out of corpses, the problem is, the minions keep "collapsing" because they're "animated". Will they stay allied to him if they're resurrected?

They transform when raised btw, into forms with OPPOSED_TO_LIFE

Resurrection brings back hist fig, raising creates new identity and slaps it onto a mangled body of previous. Are they collapsing because they need to breathe or something?

No, they just die like zombies. I want them to actually have to be KILLED, not just tapped by a whip.

So the reason raised creatures aren't hostile is because they're a new identity?  Is there any way to make a living creature non-hostile?  Is there any way to ressurect an animated corpse into a creature?

I  remember from a previous thread that a) resurrected corpses are NOT friendly and b) there is currently no way to make them so.

I may be incorrect, however, but that's my understanding of the situation.

I may be incorrect, however, but that's my understanding of the situation.

Damn, that sucks. Though I can probably just add NOT_LIVING to the summoners to make them not be targeted. My problem now is, for some reason, only dark sorcerers (one of my necro types) are spawning, no liches or summoners. I can't seem to figure out why.

You should still see summoners, but because they don't have an ANIMATE interaction they will never settle in towers and thus are much rarer than necros. Give them the standard necro animate and they'll be much more frequent.

With Liches, i'm not familiar with permanently changing the race of a secret-given individual, but I can't see glaringly wrong from a quick glance so that's what I'd be looking at. Perhaps try naming them as well with CE_DISPLAY_NAME, to allow for easier tracking? I would also try editing them so that they gain NO_EAT etc normally like a necro instead of shapechanging, just to see if that is the part of the code causing issues.

Finally try adding this code to your secrets, in addition to your current [I_SOURCE:SECRET] source. This should increase the number that show up and allow for easier tracking. Adding on extra spheres may also help.

I  remember from a previous thread that a) resurrected corpses are NOT friendly and b) there is currently no way to make them so.

I may be incorrect, however, but that's my understanding of the situation.

Damn, that sucks. Though I can probably just add NOT_LIVING to the summoners to make them not be targeted. My problem now is, for some reason, only dark sorcerers (one of my necro types) are spawning, no liches or summoners. I can't seem to figure out why.

There could be a few reasons - if you post your interactions RAW I can probably help you. Do your liches and summoners raise dead? If not they will not create towers and may be dying out - a secret needs an animate dead spell in order to build towers in worldgen.

You should still see summoners, but because they don't have an ANIMATE interaction they will never settle in towers and thus are much rarer than necros. Give them the standard necro animate and they'll be much more frequent.

With Liches, i'm not familiar with permanently changing the race of a secret-given individual, but I can't see glaringly wrong from a quick glance so that's what I'd be looking at. Perhaps try naming them as well with CE_DISPLAY_NAME, to allow for easier tracking? I would also try editing them so that they gain NO_EAT etc normally like a necro instead of shapechanging, just to see if that is the part of the code causing issues.

Finally try adding this code to your secrets, in addition to your current [I_SOURCE:SECRET] source. This should increase the number that show up and allow for easier tracking. Adding on extra spheres may also help.

I was considering using a curse, though I finally got the summoners working. It was the absence of an animate ability. The lich now has one by default, and has the ability to transform instead of being auto transformed.
