Refuses to Heal
« on: March 11, 2012, 01:50:40 pm »

So i have a wrestling dwarf that somehow got injured, i dont remember how, and his wound got infected and started rotting. At that point I set up a hospital to save him, and my medical dwarves did. They removed the rotten parts, but now he has to cuts (one on each arm) that won't heal. And on top of that it makes it impossible for him to grasp anything (although there is no nerve damage). What can i do to get him to heal? His health screen says there is no treatment waiting, but he's still vomiting. Actually it looks like a bunch of my dwarves aren't healing...

What's his healing rate? Though well, there's not much you can do in-game for him at this point besides trying to deconstruct the bed he's resting on. You could mod the raws to make healing go faster or you could arrange for some suitable means of euthanasia.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

He isn't resting in a bed, he's running around trying to store his personal items, but i keeps canceling because he's "too injured" it doesn't say he's slow to heal or anything, nothing of that sort.

I suspect that your dwarves are suffering from the ongoing effects of some syndome-bearing creature extract.  Did you recently fight a forgotten beast or titan?  Are you embarked in an Evil biome with some kind of evil rain?

Nope, nothing like that. Diagnosed and treated, but the wounds simply don't heal.

Well, you could always drop him in magma to stop him from spamming messages.

Id rather not drop my grand master wrestler into magma because of a hunting incident.

Two seasons a least, but it was just cut fat and skin, not even broken bones or anything. Just one on his right lower arm and one on his left upper arm.

I don't think it is a bug, and medical is now for the most part bug free (except for the odd dwarf stuck in a traction bench for years) because your description just cannot be right.

A. infected wounds don't start rotting, and are never amputated--soap removes infections as does death

B. since his wounds were rotting and did get amputated something else must have contributed, and as people said on the forums, necrosis is only caused by F.b.s, hfs, and certain evil area clouds/mists. Edit: and of course cave spider bites

C. He is vomiting why exactly?  Nausea can be caused by exposure to the sun, injuries to the intestines or stomach and, once again, various mist/f.b./demon related syndromes.

So something else happened aside from the injuries, and he got somehow infected and is suffering from a syndrome

I'd bet a million urists he got bitten by a regular, tiny cave spider--that causes necrosis and nausea and fatigue (I think)

When a part begins rotting it removes the rotting bit, it doesn't amputate it. My fort got destroyed while my wholy military was in the hospital as they each got unhealing wounds.
