Goblin weapons and the lowest quality weapons made by the smith while practicing.

I use serrated discs when I'm puttin the trap in an area I really need defended. If I'm using them in a maze though I usually use goblinite weapons or cheap weapons I buy from traders. Might consider using crossbows now since 34.xx seems to have gotten a major projectile lethality boost

If adamantine is perfectly rigid, as shown by having 0 strain at fracture in the raw files, then the speed of sound in the metal approaches the speed of light. Adamantine musical instruments would produce ultrasonic vibrations, and cut off the fingers of the musician.

I thought crossbows in weapon traps just used the melee bash, or has that been fixed?

Steel serrated discs. Pop a field full of those babies down in the ony entrance to your fortress and you have a woodchipper.

Just wondering what your strategies are for this.

What I usually do is 9 giant silver corkscrews (a use for galena, that and lead bins) and one giants  serrated green glass disk (varies, but on my current fort there is no sand, have to trade for it). It's very effective at  smashing skulls through bains w/o too much of a mess.

Various junk, I need to get around to modding Orcish Robot War-Claws for traps. I ususally keep my traps around my graveyards and butcher shops.

The front lines are all green glass discs to weed out the mounts, the unarmored, and exposed noses & ears.  The back lines are silver spiked balls for bone crushing.  (The pits to either side of my winding, one-tile wide path have single steel spears at the bottom, and above is my archer's pillboxes.)

10 serrated disks, of whatever material my weaponsmith happens to be practicing with, or, failing that, what my glassmaker is training on.

I also like to layer my weapon traps at least 10 deep, and they only get to them after running the gauntlet of land mines (pressure plates linked to supports supporting floor Constructions)

Generally whatever i have the most of as long as it's pointy, I'll start with menacing wooden spikes, then spears of whatever mineral i have alot of, or green glass, then goblinite. Areas i want seriously defended get 10 serrated steel disks.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.
