Killing small husks
« on: March 11, 2012, 04:52:15 am »

How the hell do you do it? I had a cavy boar husk set up as a pin cushion for my marksdwarfs and after getting them up to legendary sent in my axelords and swordmasters to kill it but it will NOT die. This isn't an isolated incident either. I'm now watching my axelords (with adamntum axes) constantly bury thier axes in the barn owls head to no effect. Magma isnt' an option because I would melt my 20 military dwarves trying to kill the thing. I daresay this would count as a bug :/

They do seem a BIT over powered, being animated lesh they should at least succomb to magma.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Ah, even adamantine axes are useless on barn owl husks? Thank you for confirming that the dragon husk one of my adventurers accidentally produced is unkillable. Guess I'd better leave that thing alive... er, animate, either as target practice, or as a potential anti-goblin tool.

It's small animals in particular. Medium size animals such as dwarves or goblins seem to be able to be decapitated, it just takes a while. For larger creatures I'm not sure, although I doubt dwarves would be able to survive long enough against something bigger. I've got 2 husk ogres, I'll see what happens if I pit them against a squad of axelords

Decapitation kills husks? I thought they could survive that, just like zombies can. And yeah, I was thinking more that I could get a super-racely strong adventurer with a candy battleaxe to behead the dragon perhaps. Or just use it as a perpetual flame-generation device, seeing as it somehow retained the ability to breathe fire.

Small creatures are harder to chop up for some reason. Cats anyone?

Tried using more skilled Dwarfs? These are husks we're talking about.

What about dropping them from REALLY high? That usually tends to explode things into multiple pieces.

Y'know, I've been thinking about building a tower outside in my evil embark... perhaps I should see what gravity does to the zombies I have, while I wait for magma to become feasible as a disposal method?

Sigged.

And I have no idea about the husks; so far my problem has been reanimated crundles.  (Good thing traps work on corpses, because the crundead managed to take down a GCS.)

Tried extreme dismemberment?  Severed limbs and non-ambulatory corpses are less of a pain.
