I think we should get a wall up around the wagon area, channeling down to make our stockpiles and get stone.

I would have preferred some place with trees, but since there don't seem to be many, I'll go on break.

Do we have to channel down? Can't we just make a stairway?

Eh, channeling takes less designations and I heard it makes it so that we will lag less later.

Alright, so i've taken the input and decided:

Our first order of bidness will be digging down and establishing agriculture.  That tower idea sounds sturdy, so we'll be doing that.

Fluffkind and Pesi, you'll be digging into the tower and removing the ramps to make a chokepoint for entry.  Pesi, you'll also be making a few mechanisms for the diving-board plank.
Spinal_Taper, you'll be making some bridges and walkways.
Kassil, you'll gather whatever plants are still alive on the surface for the short time before farms are made.
The rest of you will move supplies inside.  Any objections?

(BTW, lag will NOT be an issue.  I regularly get 70 FPS with 160 dwarves  and 200+ animals on a 4x4 map with more features than this.  Furthermore, the FPS is capped at 10 so I don't get overwhelmed with stuff to update you guys on.  In fact, I already ran the game uncapped for a bit to see what may be in the near future, and I unpaused at 520 FPS.  yay for overclocked 2.8 GHz AMD Phenom X2 720 running at 3.3 GHz with 2 cores dedicated wholely to DF!  And in case you're curious, this may end up !!!!FUN!!!!)

(Also, the save is up for grabs now)

Journal
Fath "Kassil" Wondrousmined

We've arrived in the designated locale; some blighted place on the verge of the cruel and twisted lands. Snow covers everything as far as the eye can see, broken only by the tracks of our small caravan. I can but hope that I can produce sustenance in such a chill place - unlike the warmth of the homeland, many crops might not grow here during the different seasons. The leadership apparently wants to establish a tower on the spit of land jutting up - it won't leave any room for a surface farm, alas, but dealing with these things is a mogun's lot in life.

First order of business will be collecting the local plants to supplement what food we brought with us, as well as ensuring we don't run short on drink. In a place where things freeze, running short on brewed drinks could be beyond fatal. May the gods have mercy on us.

you mean elves with loads of stone loaded onto their backs while walking on their hands with dwarves holding their legs to guide them?

"Old Greg" Feastknives is more than willing to haul goods into the deep. The sooner out of the cold, and the sooner we have access to delicious stone and metal to make toys and shields, the better.

Avuz is the Diety of The Gleeful Tome.  Avuz most often takes the form of a large female rat, and is associated with caverns and earth.  (and holes.  I require being the most holey god!)

Imps and rats have considerable kinship.  I assume this is me?  Unless another god comes who is the god of holes in truth.

Start digging out a place to sleep and eat and farm and stuff. If we have any free labor, get started on walling off the river. If not, no worries, we'll handle that when migrants show up.

Comforts and blessings upon Frogwarrior and those that follow his bureaucracy.  Any plan that begins "Start digging" has my fullest and deepest approval.

The government order doesn't involve a plan or a design, just "start digging"?

You have a problem with holes, Pesi?

I see you're one of the starting seven.   :D  Are you.... one of mine, perchance?   :-*

Good question. Can we get screenshots of which gods are worshipped by whom?

Pesi worships Avuz and Thol Tunnelwebbed
Fluffkind worships Aval
ivir Baggins ardently worships Kurol Pagelisted the Genius of Focusing and ardently worships Aval
Spinal Taper faithfully worships Thol Tunnwebbed and casually worships Shigos
Old Greg worships Avuz and casually worships Thol Tunnelwebbed
Kassil is a faithful worshipped of Shigos
Rawcakes worships Thol Tunnelwebbed and casually worships Shigos
