Oh really?

Yup. Go ahead and read the entry of the item. It gives no AC to people without the feat. Technically, you could use it. But it would do nothing but make you lose your VoP and weigh you down with a pound.

If we're going to be talking semantics here, the cloak is not a shield, it grants a shield bonus. It is a cloak that grants a shield bonus, which I would say is substantially different from a shield that you use for shielding.

Too bad it does not matter what you say. It is listed under shields. The book calls it a shield. It is treated in every way like a shield other then the aforementioned lack of AC if you don't have the feat. It is a shield.

Edit: Barba. I know this might sound mean. But actually read the entries in question before you make your fourth post about them.

I think the cloak must work like a bullfighters cape.

Quote
Battle Cloak, Gnome: This exotic shield is not a shield in
the typical sense, but rather a special cloak that can be used
to foil an opponent’s attacks. Since the cloak is not really a
shield, it confers no shield bonus to wearers who do not have
the appropriate exotic shield profi ciency.
You cannot use a battle cloak to make a shield bash
attack, but a profi cient user can use it to make a disarm
attempt. When using a gnome battle cloak, you gain a +4
bonus on opposed attack rolls made to disarm an enemy
(including the roll to avoid being disarmed if such an
attempt fails).
When used in combat, a gnome battlecloak occupies a
hand just as a light shield does, allowing you to carry other
items in that hand but not wield a weapon with it. Gnome
battlecloaks are retrieved and readied just like other
shields.

No AC to people who don't have the exotic proficiency.  No disarm attempts without the exotic proficiency.  An exotic cloak is not simple clothing and breaks vow of poverty.

Spoiler: Image alert! (click to show/hide)

Well, thanks for pointing that little tidbit out. I should trust the players in my campaign a little less.  :P (The sheet was originally my brother's in a campaign long past. I was assured of its veracity, but now I see through it as the sieve it is. I will be constructing one from scratch shortly.)

Okay, we need to get a definite time set up.

Monday at 10PM GMT.  Who can get there at that time, and if you can't how close can you get?

That's 1800 local time. I can make that easy.

Was thinking of rolling up a bard instead, since everyone seemed to dislike my (admittedly very silly) sorcerer. I'll keep him as a backup for if my bard character gets killed.
