Now, whenever I see brutal African warlords, I simply shrug and think "Not dorf enough to be a proper Overseer."

While weaponizing children and equipping animals with projectile weaponry has long since been a dream of DF players, they are severely lacking in physics-smashing doom mechanizations.

DF made me:

Realise I'm smarter than I think, and if i can learn it, I can learn anything.  Except, apparently, insurance coding.

More interested in dwarves and playing them in RPGs and WoW

More grumpy about children in game.  "Oh, pause and zoom!--Crap, it's another goddamned baby."

Remember my interest in geology and other earth sciences.

DF fills me with wicked glee. I haven't found a game I loved this much since the original Dungeon Keeper. (R.I.P. Bullfrog)

Also it got rid of my aversion to ASCII games. I had no idea what I was missing.

...not so witty, but true!  :P

DF got me into doing a little ASCII art. Not good, mind you, but I tried.

Also, it made me feel elitist towards other games.

Dwarves passing by get good thoughts from the mist of water and exploding felines.
Anyone of the equivalent to the royal bloodline in a nomadic group would have a sun tattooed on their hand, or a scrotum on their forehead (it's a little-known fact that fraternities are based off of long-forgotten tribes).

I am more willing to try harder things after playing DF, and it has helped me realize the power of throwing rabbits at people.

Sometimes I get too used to playing Dwarf Fortress, and when I go to edit text files or something I sometimes try to shift + arrow my way around the document to edit it. Too much time staring at ASCII

On a more positive note, Dwarf Fortress stimulates my inner architect. I love designing each fortress, and I love to build above ground eventually so that way my fort isn't just some damned hole in the ground. But I really love the challenge that Dwarf Fortress presents while I try to make my civilization marvelous.
