My DFTerm2 server is now Live!
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:58:13 am »

Ok,  Created a DFTerm2 server, setup SSHD and a user account for it.

You can (should be able to) connect to it at LunacyInc.privatedns.org port 8000 in your preferred telnet client.

Example:

"Telnet LunacyInc.privatedns.org 8000" from a command prompt.

(after logging in, press ALT+3, and choose "join existing game", then "slot 1".

sftp access (for those I give the password to) at:

sftp://dfterm@LunacyInc.privatedns.org
(You will need an sftp client. Firefox has at least 2 sftp client plugins for its browser.)

When you first connect, it will ask for a user and pass. This is normal. It will store that information for you for subsequent logins.

It is currently waiting for somebody to gen a world.

What are the controls? I started it up, and connected alright, but how can I move a window to the top? The windows are in the way..

[EDIT]

I resized my terminal window and the windows sorted themselves out. I've created a world and I'm starting a fortress.

What I think we're saying is we need dwarves to riot and break things more often.

DFTerm is a combination of hotseat and livestream. You may watch others playing or try to play as well.

Read the text in the windows.

Pressing ALT+(1,2,3)  will switch between the windows.

Specifically:

ALT+1 takes you to the game window where you can control the game
ALT+2 takes you to the chat window where you can blab
ALT+3 takes you to the "Connection" window, where you control what slot you are running on.

I just woke up not long ago.
Somebody genned a world, but it doesnt look terrifically terrifying, and the raws are untouched.

Waiting for girlinhat to show up so I can give her the sftp kingdom keys.

Then the !!FUN!! can begin.  Right now, we can just give it a shakedown.  Go ahead and play on the currently genned one. Not much happening.

I'm here, but have no idea how to connect, and don't have any sort of telnet client.

My preferred method is to use PuTTY.  Its a telnet/ssh1/ssh2/something-else-i-can't-remember-right-now client for windows that works very well, including customizing how the colors appear (such as lightening the dark blue so I can see it against a black background).  www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ is the source.  I normally get the entire installer as it includes pscp (PuTTY secure copy) and psftp (PuTTY secure FTP), among other things.

Oh, I see there is an update I wasn't aware of. Guess I'll need to grab that next time I'm booted to Windows. ;)

Was wondering where you went...

Girlinhat-- PM me, and I will help you set up sftp in Firefox.  Then you can poke the raws.

Also, all linux distros come with a telnet client (Telnet), as does windows (Telnet)

I am using the stock linux telnet right now...
