"Siege? I don't see anything. They're all clustered around their caught leader. Whatever. Open the drawbridge, everything's back to usual."

"Alright everyone, we've sealed off the entrance tunnel, so you can work on the roof of the Great Road safely."

"An ambush! Curse them! An ambush! Curse them! A thief has stolen Urist McMood's artifact! Urist McMood is tantruming! Rough ice bridge destroyed by Urist McMood."

Thankfully I managed to defeat the ambush and rebuild the ice bridge before a siege arrived.

My dreams are not unlike yours - they long for the safety, and break like a glass chandelier.
But there's laughter and oh there is love, just past the edge of our fears.
And there's chaos when push comes to shove, but it's music to my ears.

If it were Failcannon, a siege butchering the population would constitute an event of minor interest that would barely be mentioned in comparison to the overseer's latest obsessive construction.

"Huh, guess I accidently breached the 2nd cavern layer. oh well I'll- Why are ther so many crundles! Oh crap! MINERS! KILL THEM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!"

Note: The end result was four hospitalized dwarves being tended by an apathetic jerkass who proceeded to pitch a fit. Him and his pickaxe were the cause of the fortress falling.

"Pull the lever! Release the prisoners! Lets give our military some target practice!"
"Okay, the whole army is dead, but this guys still alive so I'll make him the commander of the next one, which will be lot better!"

And during the final siege....

"Pull the lever! That'll keep them from getting in....wait, what do you mean there's bones blocking the door?"
