Not a recent one, but I am certain a first for a lot of us:

"What is a Forgotten Beast?"

^^^

-Edit-

My first?

"Forgotten beast? Whatever, just some animal. Im sealed off anyway."

A hour later.

"What? How did he get to the surface... Wait, why is the dwarven caravan not moving? Why is blood everywhere?"

I had a old mining shaft I never sealed up.

"I keep getting 'interrupted by Forgotten Beat' messages, but I can't see where they can get out of the caverns.  They must be seeing them through the stairs at the bottom of the stairwell or something.  Well, the FBs haven't gotten out yet, guess they can't."

As of recent,

"Oh, hey an ambush." "Oh crap, an ambush!"

I had sealed my fort for most of the time it was alive, and had only found silver. I neglected mining to set up my first minecart tracks and designing buildings on the surface.

And I had a few competent 'weapon' dwarves...I wasted a lot.

"They're here already? Well, okay, I think the mechanic can get that last linkage done in time..."

"A skeletal dragon? Well, I can probably take him apart with ranged attacks, he can't breathe fire without lungs, right?" (that dragon actually killed itself trying to swim down my magma pipe into the forging area, but he killed a woodcutter first)

"Huh... Evil biomes are more evil now? Well, let's try this, I can probably handle it." (I did handle it, I just... you know, it took three tries)

"I get rid of the floor in my obsidian farm if I make a controlled cave-in by carving out the sides, right?" (130 deconstructed magma pumps, 800 flaming barrels, and a lot of justifiably startled civilians later...)

"I'll just build a wall around the bottom Z-level in this cavern... subterranean creatures shouldn't be able to fly..."

Ah, procrastination, what evils do you bring to the table today?

"Nope, no reason whatsoever to wall over that pond; goblins won't try to cross it. Temperate biome where water freezes for a month? So what? That siege? They'll never get in if I shut the gates. I think I'll just leave this unpaused while the miners finish the last excavations of the autumn and I get a snack."
