I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

A siege, huh? I'll just pull the lever attached to the drawbridge. The previous overseer sure did know how to build a drawbridge! This is definitely a drawbridge.

Human siege? There's no need to raise the drawbridge, they'll never have the balls to try an assault. No need to rush equipping the military either. Let's make more cabinets and coffers for everyone out of gold instead.

Oh yeah, I'll be able to deal with what the necromancer is going to send.  Especially if he sticks with these undead muscle shells.  Hey, where did my two militia dwarves go? *checks units list*  Hey, why are four of my fifteen dwarves listed as missing/dead?!
