I'm pretty sure the meeting hall is supported by something other than this platform

"There's no way that bowgoblin can hit my archers from that far away."

"Oh come on, how bad could the zombie horse be?" *later* "Looks like I need to bring more swords next time."

I'm getting too much cancellation spam, so I'll just turn it off.
Urist McDwarf cancels Life: Interrupted by forgotten beast dust x50

I'm sure Urist McPopular will run away from the magma fast enough after breaching the wall.

The tube shouldn't be hollow at this tile. Dig away!

There's no way that infernal ash cloud could get through my weak, wooden doors...

"I'm sure forbidding my doors would stop that Frost Wyrm. Just a minor nuisance in my above-ground fort."

(It did. But the haulers dropped a rock on the middle door...)

"No need to secure that magma cistern, nothing can climb up through workshops, right?"

"Surely floor grates support constructions."

Another about grates:

"I'll teach my soldiers swimming in an automated 4/7 drowning room. Let's see, they can't be washed into the drainage through grates, can they?"

A while later:

"They could, it appears. Well, fortifications should be enough to keep them inside."

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

"There's absolutely no reason not to give my frost wyrm's a breath attack that causes a horrible syndrome on top of it being so cold it burns you, and a skin material impervious to anything weaker than copper."
+
"I didn't make frost wyrm's THAT aggressive; I can live without a roof over my fortress."

Cue horrible, icy demise of entire population.

"A fire on our lawn? Killing my FPS? I'll just turn off the temperature calculations."
Quite a long time later...
"I suppose I can turn the temperature back on... OH GOD WHY IS EVERYONE ON FIRE!?"

"I'm sure the circus isn't going to instantly come up and murder me if I dig out only the top layer of candy."
"Surely an evil biome can't be that dangerous!"
"That Hellfire turret will be the perfect defensive chained animal!"

Dwarf Fortress, your first mistake is your last (with that playthrough) 99.7% of the time.1

"What does 'abandon fort' do?"

"Oh there's that lever I built years ago, what does it do again? Let's find out!" Turns out, my old drawbridge trash compacting room was the one I had repurposed into a mayoral bedroom. Where he was meeting with my legendary blacksmith at the time.

"Alright, after all the reading I think I know how to do this aquifer."

"Magma has no pressure, this should be easy."

"What kind of idiot brings a copper whip to a sword fight?"

(to justify my hubris slightly, I had a masterwork steel long sword, full steel armour, and +5 swordsman skill, he was only novice, and I didn't quite grasp the meaning of "lightsaber" until my adventurer's head was off)
