I always knew the Human Tantrum Spiral would start either California or Quebec. Damn you West Coast. Damn you all to hell. Because I decided to put my money on Quebec.

Also, apparently Jason Russell is associated with the controversial Liberty University, a Evangelical Christian university started by the equally controversial Jerry Falwell.

Video of that event. Russell starts speaking at 2.45.

I don't think he's on drugs, I think he just had a mental breakdown from all the stress.

That or the government mind control device they put in him to establish IC as a front for their securing oil against China malfunctioned.

Pretty sure drugs were involved, which could be because of stress (both good or bad stress)

If that's what they were trying to do it already malfunctioned, there are no significant oil reserves in Uganda.

How is it White Mans Burden to send advisers and technology into Uganda? I could understand easily if we were like "They won't ever get shit done" and took over entirely. But as I understand it, which I may be wrong, we acknowledged that Uganda can and will get him, and sent some smart dudes and gift baggies to speed things up a little.

IC talks it up as if they COULDN'T do it within a reasonable timeframe and they desperatly need our support. Also Kony was exiled from Uganda a long time ago, anyway. Also you do not want to give a goverment like Uganda's 'smart dudes and gift baggies'

I think he could have been on acid, that with the stress combined is enough to push anyone over the edge.

I feel terrible for that man. I think he cracked because he really was trying to do something good, but received criticism and responded in ENTIRELY the wrong way.

I'm not sure in what situation that would be the RIGHT way to respond.

Yeah, the whole undertone of it was the old saw about Africans being hopeless children who need white people to do things for them, just clothed in for-profit charity instead of colonialism and missionaries.

From what I've heard, Invisible Children is incredibly sketchy. As in, it's pretty likely most of their money is going to their executives and not anyone who needs it.
Sort of like the United Way. :)
Honestly, the only thing I'd ever donate money to would be the Red Cross.

Yeah, it pays to be picky about what you donate to. I have pretty good confidence in the old Red Cross, though recently the Swedish branch got skinned by it's own CEO, creating a lot of mistrust for them, even though the organisation itself I still true. One wonders what kind of a man steals from a charity organisation, though. The one he's payer to be in charge of, none the less.

I don't live in Sweden, so I don't think I have anything to worry about. They couldn't get away with that in the U.S., I hope.
Also, safe to say that guy in Sweden was forced to resign. You don't steal from charity and stay in that position.

I think he cracked because of drugs. Oh, and people finding out that Invisible Children is for the most part a scam.

Everyone keeps repeating that it's a scam when it really isn't. They accepted donations to make materials to raise awareness. They even plainly claim that. Why do people not make the connection between that, and the fact that their money went to pay for video projects, poster printing, and administrative tasks? They never claimed to be donating money, or anything like that.

I've worked for a non-profit before. Most of the money is spent on the non-profit itself, be it to pay workers, provide materials for the organization, and so on... that's just the way they work, because they don't sell a good or provide a service for a charge. Why do people see this one as a scam?
