Yeah, if you're saying that it 'looks photoshopped' you're  showing that you are commenting on something when you clearly have no basis for doing so, given that the three white guys in the photo are the founding members of the IC who have actually been going to Uganda to further their cause.   Their being active in Uganda isn't in question here. 

Beyond that, given that there's no visual artifacting or anything of the sort to indicate it's photoshopped, it's pretty weird that someone would immediately assume the subject matter- black people posing with white people- is suspicious enough to be faked.  It's actually kind of disheartening that someone would leap to that conclusion.

Bit of a hair trigger reaction, don't you think? They look like they wouldn't survive a second there. Not because THEY'RE WHITE OMFG, but because they look like the types with no stomach for what actually goes on in Uganda pretending to be 'gangsta'. Also, they're a charity posing for a photo with a millitia group that KILLS PEOPLE.

His argument is literally just "I don't know who these people are, but they're white, and don't look like they belong in this picture, so I think it's a photoshop".

His comment was posted without knowledge of who the subjects of the photo were, and with the specific "white gangsta from da hood" racial epithet.  His comment was also not about how genuine they look, hanging out with soldiers, but just how it appears to him to be a total fabrication.  Obviously the IC guys are not hardened killers, though they are arguably journalists who saw some abhorrent things- that much is undeniable.  Just because they are showing solidarity with a militia group by holding AKs and probably giving a speech or similar, does not mean that they specifically need to be killing people to prove they were actually there.

I mean, Invisible Children is a terrible organization with shady, ideologically corrupt goals for so many reasons that you don't have to say their photos with real live black people are photoshopped.  It just strikes me as a ridiculously low attack to make on them, for reasons that Delta might not have intended or realized.

Edit:  I'm respectfully going to mostly ignore the repeated instance of attempting to dismiss their appearance as trying to be 'gangsta' because it's such a racially loaded term that you should really consider why you're using that instead of just 'trying to look tough'.

I think he meant that they look like douchebags trying to look like 'white gangstas from dah hood.' The Ugandans probably wouldn't tolerate douchebags coming into thier country to look 'gangsta'

IC has acknowledged the picture is real and wish they hadn't made it.  I think I saw it on their blog.

It is a racially loaded term, but to be fair, sometimes people do engage in racially loaded actions. Not that I think it's a terribly wise term to use in this case.

I wasn't saying that you said AKs = Black People, nor was the "I wonder" directed at you in particular:  I was trying to hint that the idea of 'racially loaded actions', as ridiculous as I find that notion, has no bearing here.  It's literally just an American-centric view, in this particular scenario, that posing with guns is part of 'gangsta culture' or whatever.

Race, and culture associated with race, exists. People also attempt to appropriate or emulate elements of said culture with some regularity. "Racially loaded action" is a pretty weird way to put it, but if the concept of a "gangsta" (in American culture) is racially loaded, then so is (or at least, so can be) the concept of emulating one.

Of course not. Well, it depends on what he's wearing. Army uniform would make him look like, say, in the army.

Every gun-safety bone in my body is screaming. Those AK-47s are clearly loaded (I hope to Crust that they're not cocked too) and that's a bloody loaded RPG-launcher! I'd imagine the safety on those things would be something airtight but seriously!
