Out of the Woodwork (Horror/survival suggestion game)
« on: March 08, 2012, 02:11:09 pm »

Okay! this is a horror survival suggestion game as I mentioned in the title. I won't begin the story until our character is rolled up. I need a name, age, sex, location, and a background. Age should be old enough to be living on your own, the country should be 1st of 2nd world, and the background should be relatively middle lane (no gun slinging astronauts, please. No magic or alien junk either. A normal person, please). This game takes place in 2005. I need a person because I intend to develop what happens around the background.

again that is:

Name

Age 20-59

Sex

Location

Background

I'll update when we get a character, almost immediately.

91? I mean that's neat and all I appreciate the challenge but I forgot to mention that in a survival horror game you need to get around without breaking a hip (walking or running). Okay how about this 20-59.

Name : Alexander Weißgasse

Age : 27

Sex : Male

Location : America

Background : Alexander is a student, trying to get a degree of a doctor in chemistry. He studied in Germany and now want to study a semester  in america to fancy up his Curriculum vitae.

Beside that, Alexander didn't have an easy life. Father a german custodian and mother a polish house wife, he was not very rich. You can say shit poor, because the parents were drunkards and rather spent their money on booze then for the kid. Also, he was always mocked at school for his "nerdiness". It was hard for him to attend school. You might now expecting an inferiority complex, but he gritted his teeth and showed them all. He got a scholarship, and dreams to be a professor at some famous universities like Havard oder Oxford. He does anything for it.

Alexander is a tall (1,89 metre) and somewhat skinny. Not very fit either. He has brown, shaggy hair,  a sligthy face and sharp looking, sparkling eyes, with the color of the sea. Normally, he wears casual clothes... Shirts in brown, black, white or blue, with jeans.

He's a fan of metal music.

You'll do.

Alex was driving home. Georgetown University was nice, but boring. His whole day had been uneventful, sit in class, sit in class, sit in class, talk to no one, sit in class. The drive home wasn't any big exciting event either. Maryland was fairly quiet once you get out into the satellite cities of D.C. Alex was staying in Harmony Grove. It was a bit of a commute from his house to school but it was nice in the mornings and the evenings. Alex drove along the little road until he arrived at his little town.

After a few minutes Alex was in his driveway, gathering up his things to go in the house. It was summer and the sun was setting so it threw a light on everything that made the world look like it was encased in amber. Straining under his many books Alex fished in his pocket to get his keys to unlock the door. Alex found his keys after a perturbing moment and moved to unlock the door. The key missed the lock, which would have been no task to remedy, except the door opened. It seems Alex hadn't noticed it before, but the door had been ajar, even as he had fished out his keys.

The threshold now stood unbarred as the door eased open from your minor push.

Throw everything to the ground, it wouldn't do to face whatever is reponsible for the door being ajar while burdened.

(While he shouldn't know he is about to enter a survival horror, it wouldn't be unlikely for a sufficiently paranoid person to prepare for an assailant in such a circumstance)

Alex sets his thing on his porch. "I must have forgotten to lock up." he thinks as he enters his house. Adrenaline buzzes through his veins and his heartbeat pounds in his head. Alex steps inside the house  moving the door aside. "Maybe the door was blown open by wind or... Something." Alex walked into the foyer and almost jumped out of his skin as he sees the movement of curtains down the hall. A light cool breeze carried through the house. The windows weren't open when when he had left. "Hello?" Alex called upstairs. No answer.

The amber color flooded through the house, and the dust in the air moved along the light in large rectangular pillars.

The house was an old colonial. The biggest building in the small half town in fact, although that wasn't much of an accomplishment seeing as no other buildings had a second story for about 40 miles. It was painted a peeling red paled with time and had white trim.

Alex took a deep breath attempting to calm his nerves.

The air is just warm enough to coax sweat from you and the breeze just strong enough to cool it.

Alex remains motionless hoping for an answer, movement, any noise really. Nothing. Alex could see down into the kitchen and to the left was the front living room.

The polished wooden floor in the hallway reflected the setting sun, giving the walls odd textures and differences in shade, resembling golden marble.

Shadows of trees filter through in places, swaying in the thin wind, making false movement and a rustling noise that may have brought reminiscing of past summers in a different situation.

Alex stood in the foyer, door still open, contemplating his next move as his mind fought against the urge to run away or rush ahead. Alex remained paralyzed with indecision, coated in a cold sweat for moments, unsure.

Alex stood shaking, his only movement breathing. His breath caught in his throat and he stifled a cough before realizing how stupid he was being. He needed to call the police and now! Alex rushed outside, stomping over his things left on the porch and got into his car, tripping and almost falling twice along the way. Alex found his keys and unlocked the car in a flurry, hopping in and shutting the door.

*Click*

Alex locked the door and let out a sigh as his hand slipped into his pocket and dialed the police.

"911 emergency."

"He-" Alex's mouth was as dry as sand paper, he launched into a fit of coughing. After seconds of hacking and trying to wet his mouth Alex recovered. "Hello. Police, please." Alex said in a dry voice resembling wood scraping on stone.

"One moment, sir"

*Ringing, click*

"Caller, you have reached the police. How may I help?"

"I- I think my house has been broken into. I think there is somebody inside it."

"Can you give us your address, sir?"

"Uh. Well. I live in Harmony Grove."

"Excuse me, sir? I can not find that neighborhood."

"It's- it's not a neighborhood. It's a small community, it's about thirty minutes outside of D.C., follow the main road and take the first right. It looks like a dirt road that leads into pine barrens but it's small and I'm in the big red house, you can't miss it! Please."

"I'm sending an officer to your destination."

"Thank you..."

Alex hung up the phone and breathed. The next hour was spent wringing his hands in his car waiting for the police to arrive. One car showed up.

"Good evening, sir. I'm Officer Mathis. You believe there is someone in your house?"

"Yes." Wood on gravel.

"I'll have a look around."

The police officer was a tanned large man with a blonde mustache and shortcut hair. He didn't look to happy to be out here but did his job without complaint. He stepped into the house and it was another thirty minutes before he resurfaced.

"Sir, I think you have been cleaned out pretty bad. There is almost no fruniture in your house!"

"No, it was like that. I don't have very much in the way of furniture. I just bought the place a few months ago."

"So you didn't have a TV or sterea or any of that?"

"No."

"Oh. Well I see no signs of breaking or entering and no signs of anyone being in your house. You should really lock your doors and windows. All of them were open, all over the house. Do you have any freinds who would do this."

"No, I don't-," Alex caught himself before he told the man he had no freinds and said instead, "know anyone who would do this."

The officer nodded and said "Look, normally I would have to take you back to the station and run you through a bunch of paperwork but I'm tired, my shift was supposed to end a half an hour ago, and there was no signs of foul play. I think we can call this a wash, hm?"

"Y- yeah. Thanks officer." Alex was now standing in his driveway next to his car talking to th large man.

"You should be fine. I'm going to head out. If you run into anymore trouble don't hesitate to call. If you want my advise though? Lock your doors and windows and buy a security system or something. I mean I get where you are coming from, Who would rob you out here?" The officer peered about at the empty, now night landscape, "But seriously, leaving all of your doors and windows open is just frivalous."

Alex and Officer Mathis both said goodbyes and the man left. Alex stood in the dark.

Go upstairs and close all the windows. Following the cops advice is a good idea.

The sun was gone now, and the moon, a waxing gibbous, stood just above the treeline. The house sat in it's dirt and loam lot, mucky from rains earlier this week, and was the only thing that reflected light. The house looked as if it sat in an abyssal void, save for a few large oaks, surrounded woods.

Alex walked up to the porch and collected his things, assuring himself that there was no one in his house the whole way. It made sense though, someone trying to break in. It was a large house in a secluded area. Although when they got in and found nothing worth taking (unless they wanted a bed or a bunch of study materials) they must have gotten pissed off and opened all of his doors or whatever. "God damn kids" Alex thought not that he knew it was kids but it didn't matter.

Alex walked into the house and flipped on the light. It took seconds to come on, but that wasn't a prank, just the old electronics. Yellow incandescence filled the house. Alex first filled a large glass of water and drank it dry twice. He then made himself some microwaveable soup (beef barley stew) and set upon it like a lioness. He hadn't eaten anything since an early lunch where he had celery and a peanut butter sandwich. Well fed, Alex walked upstairs to run a bath. The house was old and hadn't been remodeled so there was no shower head, just the ability to run baths. Alex got in and soaked while thinking about his day.

After about an hour of thinking the water had become a cool sort of tepid. Alex got out and went to bed.

Alex awoke, at 4:14, to the almost inaudible noise of weight shifting on wood. The house is pitch black. The sun hasn't risen yet. *Cracacaack*
