Apparently paradox interactive is coming out with a game called "Game of Dwarves."

At least to me, it looks painfully similar to a game we all know and love.

This may not be news to all, but it was a surprise to me, and I raged.

Hey, it's not as if Minecraft did DF any harm. And the number of people who would be donating to Toady if this game didn't exist (well, when it comes out) is really, really small.

The only thing about that video that made me rage was that terrible voice-over. Even I can do a better dwarf voice than that!

Every time I see something like this I just roll my eyes, and think about how watered down it'll be compared to the only game of dwarves I bother with.

This. Yeah, there are ripoffs and "inspired by" games. No, IMO they won't draw many people away, because I have yet to see one come anywhere close to matching Dwarf Fortress in anything that makes me enjoy playing it.

Actually looks kinda cool. Definitely not at the same level of DF.

While it's it's probably super heavily influenced by DF, I don't see the problem.

Looks like Dungeon Keeper meets Dwarf Fortress. I doubt it will take anything away from the DF fanbase though. The people who love this game love it for reasons that will never be applicable to games made by a studio for profit.
