Making Walls engravable?
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:24:10 pm »

I think it's a bit silly that we can't engrave constructs like built walls or floors....is there a raw I can edit to change this?

We can't?

I didn't play DF for quite some time but i'm almost sure they are engraveable.

No.  This is a restriction in how the game codes wall material types.  Can't be changed without significant changes to the source code itself.

If you want constructed walls with carvings, you are going to have to learn the fine art of obsidian casting.

Otherwise, you can use high value stone and make blocks, then use blocks to make constructions.  This creates significant value, which is likely why you cannot create entire rooms made with floors and walls of masterpiece adamantium ore blocks and then carve masterpiece engraving onto them.  Too many value multipliers.  Adamantium artifacts and items are valuable enough, lol.

Yeah, you can hit 'Royal' with a medium-sized room engraved by an average engraver and a few medium quality tables and chairs. Masterwork engraved gilded adamantite-platinum block rooms are probably a bit much.

Which is the way to do it. ; D
