You mean that river source? That's a river source, where rivers come from.

It's probably just a buggy delta.

Source? I'm on the shore of an ocean, it's salt water partway back at the shore, then stagnant water, indicating it's stopped there, then it's high water at the map edge, not low water, indicating it's generating there, now flowing off the map...

I've embarked where rivers flow into the ocean before, it was just the weird way it spread out that I've not seen before. Thought it was kinda cool:p

Well something messed up, seeing as the river source (delta?) is connected to the ocean it probably broke something.

... Deltas are where they flow into the ocean :p

Theyget the delta shape from all the sand silt and mud that builds up there that the river brings down with it...

I think it's hilarious that you've found a river delta that just BARELY connects to the ocean at all. ^_________^

I was surprised to find one at all, actually. Every river/ocean embark before, it just went straight it. Was a surprising enough find, figured I'd post it :p

That would be because it is a river source. That is the normal shape for river sources. Regen the world from the same seed and find the site, and 10 urists say there is a river source marker there.

Your river is flowing the wrong way, basically.  Conventional logic is "it's flowing into the ocean" but map-gen didn't like this idea, so you got a river source next to an ocean.  Your river is flowing to the east (right).  Try embarking on a non-ocean river source, that's what a source looks like.

Interesting... So why isn't the water dropping off the map edge?

Also, I contaminated it with salt water near the edge, and it spread towards the ocean, but maybe that doesn't mean anything.

Also, I see what your saying, it's location is entirely coincidence, it's a source next to an ocean so it's looks like a delta...
